  • So Israel did the same thing as Iran, an attack that signals strength but isn't really a serious attack, but Iran actually ended the current issue here. I wonder if that's a level of finger too, that Israel couldn't stop without having the last word, but Iran actually could.

Both countries don't really want direct war with each other at this point, and Israel specifically has its hands full with Gaza and Hisbollah right now, its allies urging it to tone down the carnage and they have to snarl at an Iran that isn't even willing to fight against the US wishes. I can only take from this that Netanyahu that war will end and he has to take his hat.

  • Realistically Iran doesn't want a war right now. I think they're quite okay with not getting a kill. They made their statement without really forcing Israel's hand too much.

Although some warhawks are already masturbating to a fantasy of Israel retaliating.

  • Yeah, people have to remember that Iran not only announced a response but actually announced when they launched their drones that would take 9 hours to arrive so Israel has some time to prepare. This was show of force, probably for the domestic audience.

  • I mean, genocide is not a single event. Even a massacre is not necessarily genocide by itself. It's a systemic, large scale process. If we're going to the scale of genocide, it won't be about one or two events, but a multitude of events at which point it's getting hard to put the blame on a rogue person or on accidents.

That aside, it's of course something that the IDF went from "we are a modern, precise army, the best of the crop" to "no, we can't be at fault, we have no control over ourselves, everyone just does what they want".

  • I also liked that it doesn't say that all followers of an ideology are good or bad people. A lot of media that tries to tackle ideologies just make everyone in the general direction of an opposing ideology horrible people. In Disco Elysium is not as black and white. There are good and bad people in every broad ideology. Are you a bad person, just because you believe in capitalism? No. Are you a good person, just because you believe in communism? Also no. Disco Elysium is very nuanced while making it's cases.

  • I have a monitor above my bed that I connect the deck to with a hub. It's pretty chill.

  • Had to do it recently, because my Steamdeck couldn't use it. One firmware uodate and it worked like butter.

  • What a time to be alive to see millions of people getting starved to death live while world leaders applaud and call it defense.

  • For a kinder and friendlier colonism.

  • This is the last straw. I already was very shakey with all the restrictions that were piling up, but this is just one thing too much. Cancelling my subscription and installing jellyfin.

  • The issue with the CDU/CSU is that they already made steps towards the AFD after the party passed 20%. Remember, the conservatives in the Weimar Republic supported the Nazis, not because they liked them, but because they thought they could puppeteer them, get rid of the communists and socialists and then zhrowing them away and come out on top.

I am afraid that the current conservatives have similair thoughts when it comes to the AFD.

  • Though it's coming. The question will be of it stays. Current government is in dire straits in the polls. This might only live one or two years until the next government culls it, given that the conservatives are rising again.

  • If only Firefox would have a bigger userbase. I still use it, but the vast majority of people is on Chromium.
