I work in college. People can read and most can read well enough. But a significant percent have trouble parsing sentences with more than one clause. It's bad.
If they don't at least include MLs, Hoxaists, MLMs, Kim Ilsungism-Kim Jongunism, MLMs (Prachanda Path), five kinds of Trotskyist, and Stalinists (a Hoxaist who insists on being called a Stalinist), then he's setting himself as a sectarian mayor.
It depends what you mean by "work". While he certainly didn't see it as sufficient, Marx wasn't categorically against involvement in electoral politics, so he must've seen some "work" in it.
I think you're right to point to the direction of his movement, maybe he'll snap back the other way. But we have no way of knowing and being at the whims of "hoping" on an individual isn't an effective politics
