The trick to using effect/affect is to use them interchangeably and at random, then you're bound to be right sometime. Or panic and use "impact" instead, like a coward.
Most AI companies will die quite dramatically, but the big players will weather the storm and soak up all the rewards that come from monopolising on such technology. The ultimate product can turn to slop if you're the only game in town.
No one will ever stop chasing AI. It's the holy grail of corporate efficiency, just you... your shareholders... and some unpaid robot slaves. The dream.
Yeah... victory belonging to the person with the widest reach and deepest pockets rather than the originator of the material/idea is one way to ensure that all creatives become paupers. This is one of those many on-paper ideas that, without the upheaval of pretty much every other established human social structure, would be awful in practice.
