  • Here's an unpopular opinion: you don't need any labels at all. You love who you live, you fuck who you fuck, you can advertise what you're looking for if you want to but all this identity business obscures the reality that humans are far more diverse and interesting than the boxes we build for ourselves.

Most people who call themselves straight would fuck someone from their own gender if there weren't cultural expectations against it hammered into them from and early age. Most people who call themselves gay would wander if they found someone they connected with. Very few of us rest at one end of any spectrum or matrix. Most of us are somewhere in the middle, and far more mobile than we might realize.

  • Negative. It didn't go in. It just impacted on the surface.

  • I just got both COVID and flu shots at CVS on Friday. Walked in, got two little jabs, and was out in less than five minutes. Didn't even ask for insurance or any sort of payment whatsoever. I left thinking "well goddamn, this is how it should go for everything."

  • Some people legitimately have a bad immune reaction to vaccines, for a wide variety of reasons. It could be a specific allergy to some component of the shot, or a number of other factors. This isn't unique to the COVID shot. It's relatively rare, but everyone who is unlucky to be one of that minority goes online to talk about it, so there this inflated sense of it happening that far outstrips the real world occurrence of it. I'm sorry that you have had bad reactions in the past. That sucks. Thankfully that's not the experience of most people.

  • Maybe he or someone he loves was molested by a duck. It's been known to happen.

  • That's disgusting. Imagine letting that pumpkin-skinned goblin touch you.

  • Yeah that's the New Republic for you.

  • An understandable Freudian slurp.

  • There's some serious slippery slope fallacy going on in this thread.

  • Oh of course, the list of horrors is endless. Philosophers desperate to maintain the existence of a benevolent deity have wrestled for two thousand years to solve the problem of evil, and none of them ever came any closer than shrugging and presuming that there must be an unsurmountable flaw in our understanding of the universe that blinds us to his plan. A flaw in us, his allegedly perfect creation. Whoops, there's that nagging contradiction again.

  • It's still a pretty young technology, and it took a few years to understand the impacts of it. We've had them long enough now to be able to see how detrimental they have been to the first generation using them.

  • Musk would definitely be the guy operating a digital hell for everyone who buys his neural backup products and doesn't pay a monthly fee to opt out.

  • I will spend all day returning again and again to the thing you said, and tomorrow I will have the wittiest response you have ever heard.

  • Am I supposed to know what a pepperhead is?

  • I mean, nobody can prove that didn't happen.

  • Even the phrase "mass deportations" should make anyone who cares about anything angry as hell. Are they planning on using trains? Stopping off at camps on the way to the border? Fuck that shit and fuck anyone who hears that phrase and doesn't immediately think of Auschwitz.
