Are we having an argument? Most likely I’m not trying to be a meanie, but I’m just struggling to understand / effectively communicate with yah.

  • At least in my county, the council doesn’t really interact with or take responsibility for social housing. It was solely that social housing was offered to low-income families and that it’s supposed to be charged at 75% market rate.

In fairness, most social housing is owned by supposedly not-for-profit organisations, but they’re still typically making rich people rich and screwing over poor people.

  • It is a bit sad, but most of all I find this reality they describe to be very alien. Though most of the bourgeoisie bullshittery exists in the exact same form it did 200 years ago, there’s a lot of talk by Engels and his contemporaries about workers and unions actually striking and caring about improving conditions, and I just don’t see that anywhere in the West anymore.

Many people I meet out and about just don’t care about improving the lives of workers, or the mass inequality. And unions and striking is a very rare thing indeed, for the worse.

  • I have a real fondness for just normal pictures of NK, it’s like brainworm cleanser.

Speaking of, these are all village-esque, but seem exceptionally tidy! Meticulous gardening, well maintained walls, etc. Any more info on where exactly the pictures are from?

EDIT: After chasing down the Titok channel, looks like they’re pictures of relatively new-built housing for rural areas. Explains why they’re so flawless.

  • I remember them telling us covid was low risk, that it would be contained, and not to panic.

I agree a lot public health management really fucked up in a big way, and we could have handled even the initial response a lot better. But in their defense, these statements had been true of every other overblown novel contagion in the past century. In the past couple decades there have been a few diseases which were touted as the new global pandemic and they came to very little (on the grand scale, not saying they weren’t serious for the people who suffered them). I also agree the mask shit was totally mishandled.

I think it’s impractical to call for a full-blown reaction to every new disease out there. Unfortunately then reacting to stuff when it does become big will take at least some time.

Personally wouldn’t currently advise anyone to “prepare” for it in any way beyond how they should already be as standard - Just always have a few days worth of canned food, supplies and masks.
