  • A lot of people, schoolchildren included, are up way before sunrise anyway, regardless of where we put the clocks.

Personally, I'm just sick of moving back and forth. I don't care what we change it to, just stop changing it. Where I live, we get 8 hours of daylight in the winter. Someone is always going to be in the dark sometime, no matter what we set our clocks to.

  • I'm a data analyst/software engineer in rocket engine testing.

I get super excited when I see rocket launches in the news or on the Internet.

    "Woah that's so cool!"

"Holy shit! Hardware I touched is on that!"

"Yooooo. Those engines I tested are on the Moon!"

  • Health insurance: "Hey, we're fucking assholes, but the maximum you'll pay for your care in a year is $XXXX."

Dental insurance: "Hahahaha! Fuck you! The maximum we'll pay for your care in a year is $XXX! Also, we don't cover anything other than cleanings!"

  • I believe the only part of Meshcore that's not FOSS is the official app, and there's a FOSS alternative.

Personally, I'd use Meshcore. I tried MT for a month or so. I never saw a conversation, just a few scattered "test" messages. Meanwhile, on MC, I was away from my phone for 4 hours yesterday and came back to 250+ coherent messages in a conversation from all over the region (not to mention the hundreds of test messages).

MT is better in ad-hoc situations since clients can repeat messages, but MC is better for establishing a region-wide communication network.

  • Mesh also allows you to use encryption.

  • And both use LoRa which is proprietary.

  • I love multi desktop in Mint. It's frustrating because it works so much better in Mint than it does in Windows (which I have to use for work)

  • I solve the alt tab game issue by having multiple desktops. I bind them to Alt + 1, Alt + 2, etc. Instead of alt tabbing, I just switch to another desktop. It's not a perfect solution, but it works for me.

  • I thought it was neat and installed it, but I had no specific use cases.

It came in handy when I was trying to combine a bunch of PDFs a few weeks later. Then I used it again to remove some pages from another PDF. I like having it around

  • I've been having issues for a while too.

  • I've always called it the Daily Heil.

    They kinda liked the Nazis.

  • What about a certified letter? With a law firm's letterhead.

Download data directly from weather satellites

    Government fake cell tower detector

  • NGC 2264 in the constellation Monoceros (next to Orion) for the curious.

  • I can't say I've heard of that before. I'm glad you enjoy it.

  • He posted a quote of Trump dismissively saying to get over a school shooting after Kirk got shot. This cop was essentially saying the right should just get over Kirk's death. That's not what a fascist would say.

  • Word.

  • I got so frustrated trying to use Word to write a document at work that I just gave up and wrote the whole damn thing in LaTeX. Lots of nested bulleted lists (or worse, numbered lists) and Word do not play nicely.

Sucks to be the guy who has to edit it when I'm gone.
