  • I have a 5080 and it worked well with some issues:

Finding a distro that would boot from USB was a headache. Bazzite and Mint wouldn’t load, but Fedora did. HDR worked in videos, but not in games. I didn’t experience any performance issues with GPU heavy games, though I had to fudge around with Proton versions to get Armored Core 6 to work.

Valve Index worked with beat saber, but I could not mirror the VR to my TV using steam link. The index had poor frame rates for playing non-VR games in theatre mode.

OpenRGB still doesn’t have support to change the RGB on my card (Gigabyte Aorus).

  • Pissed that I had to reinstall Windows because Linux’s usability with my Valve Index isn’t quite where it needs to be. Was quite happy on Fedora before I attempted to run VR stuff again.

  • I’m planning to stop using Tidal. I get too many errors when playing.

  • I use Fedora. It fucks up less than Win11, so I’m sticking with it.

  • My experience migrating to Linux started off rough. Fedora wasn’t even on my top 3 distro to try (Bazzite, Mint, Ubuntu), but when you’re running Frankenstein hardware with Nvidia graphics, your distro is gonna be the first one that actually boots from a USB drive.

Very happy with it. It’s actually easier to find solutions to most of my issues than it was with Windows 11. I thought I’d miss HDR in gaming more, but not really noticing much of a difference.

If it wasn’t for Linux, I never would have learned about the Heroic launcher, which lets me run games I got from Epic Game store and GOG without downloading those.

Hoping OpenRGB eventually supports my graphics card and HDR gets better implementation for games.

  • Fuck AI @lemmy.world

AI can't even find a deal on vegetable oil

  • Does it need to be Bazzite? That was my first choice too when I left Win11 earlier this month, but couldn’t get a USB install stick to boot. Ended up going with Fedora because it was the only distro that booted up without issue.

  • I avoid biking in the rain more for the sake of my bike.

  • I finally troubleshooted why my Linux usb boot drive wasn’t working. Planning on making the switch when I have time off work.

So long as I can get Steam and Jellyfin working, I’ll never switch back.

  • Unidentified fighting object.

  • Let’s go Taco!

  • RDR2. Played, but didn’t beat the first one. Some other game pulled me away from it. Tried the sequel and was disappointed by the gunplay.

  • Every time Final Fantasy Tactics comes out again, I’m all over it.

  • Reddit trying to figure out who the Boston marathon bomber was.

  • When Reddit thought the could find the Boston marathon bomber.

  • The only victory day I’ll be celebrating is Trump’s death.

  • Short sided to create software that can identify protestors. Scapegoats change.

  • I saw this guy on the SF video by Channel 5. Used to be a drug dealer. The fucking sad thing is he’d film unhoused people doing drugs and yelling at them “there’s kids around here!”

So raping kids is fine to this degen, but don’t let the kids see poverty on the streets.

  • Mush mush. Her real name is Altima.
