  • Tapo looks promising. If Frigate is too much for the Pi, I have a couple of retired PCs that could be recommissioned. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • I'll check them out. Thanks!

  • Another new project to consider. Thanks!

  • Thanks for the suggestion. Amcrest is a new one to me. I'll check them out.

  • Amcrest is a new one for me. Doing more research, but thanks for the suggestion.

  • Amcrest is a new one to me. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • Thanks for the suggestion. I have a hard time trusting a company that appears to try to hide its country of origin. And I'm not interested in anything made by a Chinese company.

  • I'm not interested, for numerous reasons, in anything produced by or in China.

I really like the concept of PoE cameras for the same reasons. Given where they'll be installed, I'd rather only climb onto the roof or into attic crawlspaces once. :)

  • I don't entirely disagree, and you may be right about the financial union. I've also downvoted this post because I think it's a waste of space that no one should waste time on -- unless they need even more convincing that Axel Springer is garbage. I was originally surprised at such a biased piece from Politico, largely because I forgot that they were sold out to Axel Springer.

  • It also has downvotes. And as @avidamoeba@lemmy.ca says, this isn’t Reddit. Up- and down-votes are not a popularity contest.

  • Editorializing alone was enough to put me off this article. Finding that it’s essentially a scolding to be more like American-style laissez-faire capitalists, who’ve managed to eliminate workers’ rights and pensions so that most have no choice except to gamble on the stock market for retirement income, was nauseating.

  • Exactly my reaction

  • Notice the reference to tactics, not to technology.

  • Yes. Thanks for clarifying.

  • Putin is a Soviet, after all. Is it really a surprise that he uses their tactics?

  • There doesn’t appear to be much that someone outside the EU can do to help. But we can share it.

  • Sounds like Trump

  • Starmer is open to the idea. Is Spain? Will Brussels allow Spain effectively to set their own immigration policy?

  • Can’t the Ukrainian foreign minister speak for his own government? Given that the CCP has a strained relationship with truth, routinely patronizes everyone outside Beijing, and supports Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, I find this press release hard to believe.
