  • According to Wikipedia: District 22 has been held by a Democrat going back to 1969 (except one rep flipped from Dem to Repub for a year in 2005 then lost his next election lol). In recent elections, the Dem ran mostly unopposed, and winning by 35 points in the others.

District 42 is similar going back to 2007.

Still fantastic news, but the headline says they flipped these seats, making it seem that these were previously held by Republicans.

  • It could be argued that even Hitler lacked the foresight until that last hour when it was discovered his armies were not coming to his rescue.

  • And even if they did, it would take months, if not years, to resolve. Until then people will either be disenfranchised and can't vote or forced to update their ID's, which could also take months of paperwork to resolve.

  • Not to mention that these "elites" don't respect borders, so properly identifying them as the issue and fixing it so they lose power/influence in your country, could have cascade effects, even in the originating country.

Because if you think America is isolated in our shitty politics, every other citizen from other countries are going to have a rude awakening when the technocrats/oligarchs have ruined or grow bored of the US and move on to ruin your country (see Venezuela, Palestine, or any country that signed a free trade agreement with us that are now getting hit with tariffs).

  • As the others have stated, you don't need to know them to ban them, but i would also add that a majority post from their real accounts, with their face as a profile picture, with little to no shame.

Outside of this, there needs to be a targeted effort to label and/or ban bots, but those bot accounts drive up user engagement numbers, which drive ad revenue, which makes line go up, so it's never going to happen. But doing so would limit how far these messages get and reduce foreign (or domestic) influence.

  • We know why this happened though. America, under Trump (and not really corrected under Biden), sold off their soft power, allowing other countries to walk all over us intentionally. And it's only going to get worse under further Republican control. Meanwhile, Democrats have taken the mantle of neo-liberalism and neo-conservatism, so unless we suddenly elect an entirely progressive government and start to work towards normalizing foreign relationships, the kidnappings will continue.

  • Some folks would say half of America had always been either Nazis or Nazi sympathizers. But we just call those later groups, Nazis.

  • It might be something like:

    https://www.isidewith.com/political-quiz

Not saying i agree with him, but it sounds like he was saying he felt certain issues were more important than others which led him to believe that Trump was his candidate.

For example, he was led to believe through propaganda that illegal immigrants coming over the border selling drugs and eating cats and dogs was a higher priority than let's say taxing billionaires (who are the ones eating the cats and dogs it turns out) into oblivion, and the quiz spit out that he should then for for Trump.

  • I'm convinced they used AI to redact everything, and didn't double back and check them until after a particular page made headlines.

I've seen numerous videos where they program a script to remove the 5-6 different ways "redactions" were added and they make no sense from a technical stand point, leaving me to believe that someone non-technical told AI exactly how they wanted to redact, and then put those files in their outbox.

  • Especially with who's still in charge of the USPS, and them purposefully delaying mail right now to set the precedent for November.

  • The time to do that and have significant public support behind them, has passed. Like I said, they shouldn't have passed that $75 billion in the first place and kept the government shut down until every item they wanted was included, AND they had the public support to do so!

Now? Republicans will hammer them for not funding FEMA when there's a massive snow storm getting ready to hit 3/4 of the country, or whatever bullshit they're scheming up this round. When other crap is loaded into a bill, their public support for not supporting it faulters, i wish this wasn't the case.

I want Democrats to win, and i don't think this is the battle to do so. Safe Dems can vocally opposed this all they want, but until we start seeing immigration polls swinging 20-30+ instead of 5-10, Southern Dems in tight races will continue playing that "Middle".

  • Fuck yeah, rip it top shelf bud.

  • To preface, i want ICE fully defunded.

That being said, this is a damned if you do, damned if you don't. ICE already received that $75 billion which will allow them to operate for years. This $10 billion comes with some "restrictions" like body cameras, and reallocates some money towards oversight of holding facilities. Another chunk will need to go to other underfunded agencies like the Coast Guard, FEMA, and CIS.

Democratic leadership hasn't indicated if they will whip house Dems into voting no, because it will depend on those running in tight districts.

The message needs to be sent via primaries. They should have never received that $75 billion in the first place.

  • And even that would require a software layer log that wouldn't kick in until the software is fully booted. There would have to be a hardware layer controller logging spin up via firmware for that to work.

If they threw this into a cloaner, there's really no way to tell.

But they wouldn't even need to do all that, they would just shop around for a trump appointment judge in a nearby district, and then convince them to retroactively rubber stamp a warrant based on some flimsy probable cause, exactly like the Patriot Act was written for. No need to parallel construct.

  • There's is so much politicing that's happening behind the scenes, it's hard to explain how this system actually works.

Trump "threatening" martial law and "enacting" martial law are 2 very different things. And providing them the justifications to enact would be a very stupid thing. Like you said, him throwing that out there is him testing the waters. It means that behind closed doors, there's a non zero, X number of Republicans who have made it known they will not stand for it. If that number was zero and he had the full backing of Congress AND supreme Court, he would have done it by now and cancelled the midterms, etc...

Now, what we don't know are if there were any conditions tied to that, for example "i will not stand for martial law being declared without full on violence in the streets" or "i will not stand for martial law being declared without one of 'our guys' being punched in the face first". We don't know how many lines there are or where the lines are being drawn, but they are there, and the administration is currently doing the calculus to get to their end result.

"He's going to do it regardless" then he'll face backlash in his own party. Watching the last few years unfold had proved that Republicans were once willing to forgive a lot to reach their end goals, but recently many have been breaking off since reaching some of those goals. Not to mention, the people's reaction if he just does it regardless. There's certainly people behind the scenes calculating not just the public's reactions but our allies too, and trying to apply pressure where they can.

  • We also dont know the situation that led up to them resigning and getting fired. They very well could have been trying to drag their feet but were already under immense pressure to file charges immediately. No amount of feet dragging can help if the Nazis are literally hovering over you as you fill out the paperwork.

  • It looks like the beneficiary was setup to the correct name. Not sure how accurate that is. Might need to find a news source confirming he is the beneficiary.

  • I really have to thank my wife as it's been a recent change for me, I was pretty isolationist. She's been a "townie" all her life and since moving in almost 8 years ago, I've started to really see the benefits of community, like farmers markets and such.

I think the best thing for people is to get active in their local community and politics. My brother was pretty conservative going back a long while; mainly about wanting lower or no taxes. He then ran for and won his HOA presidency and quickly realized how fucked they would be if they just got rid of their HoA fees. They needed to dredge their lake but the previous administration signed in a bilaw stating they couldn't raise the fees. They didn't have the money for it outright, nor could they pay back a loan. He didn't run again, but I'd like to think he learn a valuable lesson about public service that day, and the effort it takes to run a community.

So I've been protesting any company that's publicly traded. Had the same cell phone since 2019. Moving funds into a credit union. Cooking meals at home. On the rare occasion we eat out it's at a locally owned restaurant. Buying our produce at the farmers market and growing some of our own. For the stuff we can't avoid, getting bulk items from Costco until we can source better AND local. And then socials, getting rid of all the major ones and switching to the fediverse.

  • I see comments like that either calling for Trump to be deposed, or yeah, a full on civil war against Republicans at that point. The second is from people who can view chess only a few more moves in advance than those saying the first and know that we have a presidential line of succession and it's just as bad all the way down. But both are extremely naive views because this is a cultural problem with Republicans as a whole. Even if somehow you were to Thanos snap every Republican in power, the next election cycle will be just as bad, if not worse.

To fix, you have to address the militant individualism thats been romanticized by billionaires; the only thing that seems to have tricked down from them, who's only purpose is to get people to vote to lower taxes, but mainly benefit the rich. Democrats should start running on lowering or cutting taxes out right for anyone making less than 350k, and watch the cognitive dissonance happen with the hard core Rs who made their whole identity about not getting taxed.

Then we continue to build up our communities and homesteading hobbies and primary any Democrat who gives an inch to these fascists.
