  • Trigger guards on rifle designs are almost always removable precisely for this reason.

  • I think a lot of factors combined to make this deadly. Not least of which, the engine seemingly strikes the plane when it yeets? Further, it happens during takeoff, so the plane is completely oriented improperly for gliding while down an engine. And then finally, as seen in the video, the catastrophic destruction was due to the frame hitting structure and beginning to tumble end over end. Ideally, they could have slammed back down into the runway and skidded to a stop eventually.

  • Once you internalize orbiting as falling sideways so fast you miss the ground, you get to say you’re a rocket scientist.

  • It’ll be like the first forces into the concentration camps. “Document everything, because it defies belief”

  • Tbh I’m not sure how the business model of “being on every single intersection corner across from our identical competitor, selling items at just above dollar store quality” was ever a profitable plan, for either of the two stupid companies.

  • Another banger video. Thanks! That’s exactly how I figure I’d learn. For the last few years I’ve been addicted to watching subbed and unsubbed episodes of Game Center CX and when they speak slow enough, the ambiguous learning really works. E.g. when everyone is groaning after a death and gets serious and the narrator says “lasto iki” well it’s pretty obvious iki means “life”

  • I ended up watching 4 eps and yeah it was really enlightening. Especially episode 2, discussing “it” being invisible.

It did help me realize that I’m just not a language learner. Might give her videos another run at a slower speed to try and process all the academic jargon.

  • You were not kidding about the voice. Sheesh.

  • Awesome, thank you!

  • I love this version more than the album version. Wish they’d put it on The Platforms ™️

  • Psycho for sure.

The Birds threw me for a loop because it’s really just a really long love story, with like 30 minutes of bird squawking at the end. I still liked the movie but I had to call my mom and press her on why she was terrified when she first saw it lol

  • Plini as well as The Omnific!

  • That grungy tone is going to be remembered as the cheesy 80s synth of this decade. I’m so sick of it already.

  • So much. I’ve been thinking to myself lately, especially given the recent master debater event, that debate is useless, but I haven’t really grappled with that concept yet. So thank you for putting it to words.

Like, you debate where the group eats dinner or what color to paint your house. You can’t debate human rights. It’s a hopeless battle, and the only way to actually sway your cause is with action.

And now I’m probs on some radical watch list.

  • It’s kinda like car models in a way, it’s pretty annoying.

You already know what body style you want, so I recommend you start with new vs used, then aesthetics like finish and fretboard material. (For example, I knew I wanted a seafoam green telecaster with darkwood fretboard so that left me with exactly one model from one year lol)

If you still have a lot of choices at that point, then you gotta look at the electronics probably. They’ll be offering different pickup combinations, different potentiometer configurations. If you play a lot of different styles you may want 2 pickup positions so you can change your tone drastically with one switch. You may also prefer to mess with your EQ on the guitar, in which case you’ll want to find a model with a bunch of knobs. And if you’re REALLY particular you’ll know what style of pickups you want, too.

If that hasn’t narrowed it down yet, then maybe just throw a dart at the guitar center wall and buy whichever one you just damaged.

  • HN is a hub for yuppie startup hustlers well versed in Silicon Valley jingoism, that also happens to let anyone who wants to larp that lifestyle mingle with them.

In essence almost every user thinks they are tech Jesus and you’re gonna get their opinion on whatever the title of the post is as though it’s the tech gospel.

  • Fair enough!

  • Calling the US culture “alien” is an easy cop out way to say it’s not our fault. But the truth is, it’s authentic human shit. It’s uniquely fucked up comparatively but it’s still a result of millennia of human civilization. We’re all partially responsible.

  • Edelgard did absolutely nothing wrong.
