  • I had to get a thicker grip for it. Even still, it kicks like a fucking mule and I’m awful with it. Feels bad man.

  • I’m getting yelled at in some other thread for saying mostly the same thing but not in defense of the piece of shit. I feel really bad about it. But I don’t see how, in this system, any other outcome would have happened. They have the monopoly on violence and all bets are off once they feel scared. I wish she had meant to do it and succeeded at least.

  • And I greatly appreciate it! My wife and I are thrilled with the latest-ish changes (my server was out of commission basically all of last year)

  • Can I be honest? Like 90% of serious hexbear vocab words mean nothing to me anymore.

  • Jon Ham?

  • I haven’t printed anything since I made the permanent leap a few months ago. I got Prusa configured the same way from my windows drive in like 5 minutes, including finding and installing it. And I don’t even use a Prusa printer, nor an FDM. It’s literally the goat.

  • iirc and I’m probably wrong but I think he impales his hand on it to draw blood to feed the Fell For It Again Award

    Edit: throat

  • Agreed. That’s a dogshit assignment and a program approving that kind of syllabus is similarly dogshit.

  • When Traefik was rewritten, the documentation became a disgusting outdated mess and stayed that way for too long, maybe still is? The configuration needed for doing things right, and doing advanced things, was crazy verbose and clogged up any compose file you used. Same with Kubernetes annotations. As I recall, debugging misbehavior was ulcer inducing due to lack of feedback.

I don’t even remember what pushed me over the edge but it took me probably one evening to rip out traefik and stick caddy in the mix. My compose file shrank by 50%, and the caddy file is a few dozen lines. All of the right behavior is just baseline. No, it’s not as slick as putting an annotation on a container and getting a configuration, but it was never just one annotation in my experience, and caddy is just so much more usable than the alternatives like nginx and even haproxy.

  • 100%. I go even further and explicitly advise against traefik these days, and I was a huge proponent of it when it launched.

Caddy is just the best reverse proxy, period. When the experiments for using it as a Kubernetes ingress succeed, it’s going to change everything.

  • It’s a beautiful love letter to parts 1-6, and a great foundation to the next 6 parts hopefully lol

  • For your 75 apps, any that doesn’t support OIDC can be protected by VoidAuth’s ProxyAuth. Have your reverse proxy forward the request to the voidauth api and it will use the authenticated user’s group membership to allow or deny access. So in your case you could have a blanket rule covering your entire domain and gradually add more specific paths as needed.

Can’t help with your question unfortunately. But I highly endorse VoidAuth!

  • Our cat tree has a solid hammock and even then it’s funny to see them wobble on it for a few seconds and then bail out. Poor dudes don’t know what they’re missing!

  • “Gear up” in this context is like, “get the necessary equipment,” in other words, “get prepared.” Definitely missed pun opportunity though.

  • I was in a similar boat for the first few years out of college. Like, totally fine score, couldn’t even get a PayPal credit for under $1000 for some reason.

When I met my wife and we secured a credit union mortgage, everyone just started throwing credit at me. My score is sky high, so every account keeps raising my limit, which raises my score, etc. it’s all a bunch of bullshit.

  • My heart stopped. Sheesh.

  • It’s beautiful. It took me under an hour to implement. I never got authentik or authelia working, and this is all in one container.

  • Just finished raising a days old kitten we found in our yard and it nearly sent me to the psyche ward. I have massive respect for anyone doing that multiple times.
