  • If you're on Debian, it's the tried and true method. The config is dead simple for most upgrades, just un-comment the line in the config file next to the type of upgrades you want, stable or testing. It can take some debugging if you have a package with it's own APT repo. It'll just ignore those updates by default.

  • unattended-upgrades is annoying? How so?

  • People complain about the doorbell?

Then don't have a door bell jackasses. Being alerted that someone is at the door is it's whole purpose.

  • Ever hear of the fable "The boy who cried wolf"?

  • One catch is that you have to assume it's gonna be sending data to China or at least have a hidden backdoor, possibly both. That may not matter depending on what they are doing.

  • If you voted Liberal, you voted for this. #Leopardsatemyface

  • If you want people to buy new cars every year wouldn't you make the new cars look different? More exiting or whatever? We used to have awesome fins on the back of cars now we just get a shiny grill. "planned obscelensce" doesn't force them to make cars that all look the same. That's safety regulations.

  • Also why all the new cars suck.

  • Funny thing, if you pretend to take off your seat belt it looks like you were wearing one. Seatbelt laws are useless tyranny.

  • You joke but those and helmet laws all should be repealed. We need to stop protecting people from Darwin. When the stupid assholes can't cull themselves naturally it drives the average intelligence downward.

We see the results of this in modern society with the number of iPhone owners. No one should want an iPhone but marketing is all it takes for the stupid to be convinced.

  • We used this when we had cats: https://tabcat.com

It's expensive up front but works pretty well and no hosting fees. Of course it's not GPS so you kinda gotta know the general area the cat is in. But it was great for getting the cats in out of the yard. They would hide when it was time to come in until we got this. Worked ok for finding them in the neighborhood as well, just walked around pointing the remote everywhere. The collar tags are nice and small as well.

  • I live in a city, with a public transport system, and it's terrible. Nobody but the poors bother with it as it takes HOURS longer than simply driving. This isn't hyperbole, it's actual trip times from actual trips taken.

  • With a fully functional, affordable, universal public transport system

Y'all got any of them magic carpets? They're just as real as this mythical perfect public transport system. And cars will always be more convenient. Convenience wins every time.
