  • There was a strike at my supermarket a few months ago, and some Nextdoor Karens' went:

"During the start of the school season?!"

Like it's not supposed to be CONVENIENT.

  • WordPress itself isn't a problem. Leach away my FOSS fans. Heck, customization up the wazoo. For a developer, it's really really easy to make it your own. A competent developer can be taught WordPress CMS and understand what's under the hood within a few weeks.

Contributing back to WordPress? Getting harder and harder with Matt being the biggest barrier.

It's becoming one of those scenarios like Apple, Microsoft, Google, and Amazon. Fuck those companies. But I'll build apps on your platform and play by your stupid ass rules to earn a living while also giving you the finger.

  • WordPress does provide a rest API, so you can do headless WordPress. It's essentially your content/data in JSON. From that point, you can do whatever.

The issue is you still need a CMS, or use WordPress.

  • You don't know how gay my sleeping is.

  • Reminds me of the Michelin folks rating restaurants.

Or the Yamaha music folks making boats.

    Mega corps!

  • I used to think that, as a tinkerer. Sorry for being jaded.

Then I got real into maker studios and all formed the same opinion: WE, the tinkerers, are a blip to companies that mass produce garbage. Apple used a fraction of a fraction of their budget to stop iRepair. And they're one of the biggest players.

Samsung/Amazon is huge and they don't care. Hell, they'll even sell the parts, as long as you buy it from them.

As long as we consume, they don't care if we set it on fire or make it work forever. They'll keep poisoning the world for profits.

  • Quick allowlisting to gaslight the journalist.

Jokes aside, this is more about this topic:

Names may be omitted from ChatGPT either because of privacy requests or to avoid persistent hallucinations by the AI.

And these conversations are important to have during the evolution of AI systems.

  • no more than there's a free lunch.

  • There's a lot of overlap of features. For example, we have a serverless function that does one thing for a dozen different departments, as well as for affiliates. Right now, our solution is just to say its part of the "operating expenses" bucket, which is our black box of things that just need to be paid.

The solution to fix this would be to split the function as separate instances, to get cleaner tag data.

But now you have separate instances of the same code and everything is even less efficient/effective, and significantly more overhead for "cleaner" tagging.

The serverless function is a extreme tiny example. Multiply that by bigger projects/critical architecture/etc.

For our company, we accept not really knowing the exact details, because the cost of getting that clarity is a magnitude more work for little gain.

  • Man baby and WordPress.com CEO apparently forced this on the open-source community.

  • As a php user, this is hilarious.

The issue shouldn't effect any php users today, as this is a issue with older versions of PHP 5.5, where the "outdated PHP 5.6" was released in 2014.

Anything on PHP 5.6 has been a security risk for half a decade already. So this is like if you were on Ubuntu 14, or Windows 8. If you have problems, it might be you.

  • The "Go woke, go broke" man babies who believes that failed games were because of politics™, and any attempt to help those people is a act of aggression.

  • IT team is in charge of backups. They swore up and down that everything was fine and backups are working correctly.

For my department because I believe in Happiness, asked them to send me a backup. It was garbage data.

Then I learned how they verified the backups were working if the file size was bigger than 0kb.

  • I was flying to south East Asia, looking at the digital map of the plane. From above, you can kinda see the country lines.

What made me feel that incredible sadness is that within a 1000 mile radius, a child born might live in a world where they struggle with starvation and have worms in their stomach, or wake up each day with anime and toys. Some countries have so much wealth and resources. Where others barely have anything. I think about all of that as I fly to my vacation destination, having been incredibly lucky to have been born in a pretty wealthy country.

One could argue that you can be poor/abused anywhere. But there's a clear difference in quality of life here.
