As an old leftist who has become disillusioned, i wish the young generation would stop wasting time like we did and skip the protesting bit and go to guillotines. I feel like every new generation discovers the same injustices and jumps the same hoops, then they get jobs and homes and kids and that ends, new generation comes, repeat. We never actually make it past protests before we become unable to do anything more

All my relatives from El Salvador said “yeah but the crime rate dropped” if you point out that a good percentage of the people who were tossed in those holes without due process are innocent, and that’s unacceptable. And they respond with “yeah but the crime rates”. If you point out that once those gang members are used up, those prisons won’t close, they will be used for whichever undesirables he picks next, innocent or not. And they respond with “but the crime rates” We reached that point sooner than I thought, and now those holes are being used for innocent people and not even from El Salvador, and my relatives respond with “yeah but the crime rates”
