Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Women who consider themselves unattractive, what’s something men don’t realize about how they treat you compared to women they find attractive?
5·21 天前And at the same time, social anxiety has been steadily increasing among young people due to decreased human connection, driven by smartphone use. Tell a random 20 year old to go to their local park and strike up a conversation with a stranger for no reason except that they are at the same park, and they’ll look at you like you just told them to assassinate the prime minister of Czechoslovakia - not only are they sure it is a bad idea, but they are pretty sure it is impossible, since Czechoslovakia hasnt been a country for quite some time now.
So these factors combine. They believe that even approaching a woman already makes them a bad person. Then layer on top social anxiety that makes talking to strangers already horrifying. And the brain comes up with a scenario that justifies the fear: You are a bad person if you approach a woman - you’re a bad person just for thinking about it - so if you actually did such a fucked up thing, it would definitely get recorded and posted online. Everyone would know what a fucked up person you are, you’d probably get MeToo’d, and sent to jail for sexual assault. Better never talk to anyone, just to be safe.
Damn that was a bit too close to home for comfort. However I’m closer to 40’s than 20’s xD
I see myself as a shy introvert and I’d rather avoid social interactions if I can, as I feel I’m bothering the other person(s). So approaching a woman randomly… Yeah the second quoted paragraphe summarise how the experience would feel.
That’s why I liked dating apps years ago, before it (apparently) went to shit (I stopped now that I have a partner): clear background and expectations, minimised misunderstanding.

Games@sh.itjust.works•It Seems ‘Destiny 2’ And ‘Marathon’ Cannot Properly Co-Exist At BungieEnglish
2·3 个月前Vaulting (making inaccessible) some content made it very hard for new players to start destiny 2.
Between this original sin and the tsunami of bad decisions that followed (fomo cranked to 11, monetisation non stop…) I don’t understand how the game manage to live this long. Yes gameplay was good, but THAT good? Damn…
At this point either do D3 (not sure how now the history is supposed to be complete) or let it die…

“-Could you just explain what this meeting is about”
“-Did you actually read the email summary”
“-yes but it’d be better if you explain it again”

*Hand over a “/s”
Because of the USSR playing its role as boogyman.
On top of that the at the time Germany and current Russia are totally different: its geography, its people, its government, its economical status.
Occupation is generally a bad idea, but occupying RUSSIA… Very, very, very bad idea. You’d just confirm the lies the Kremlin tell its population and unite the country against the EU.
Edit: typo

Linux@programming.dev•Have you or someone close to you converted to Linux recently (with Windows 10's end of support)?
31·10 个月前Recently started testing Linux:
-laptop: Switched an old X1 Carbon to Linux, but had a lot of problem with the WiFi card (Intel Wireless 7265). It’s supposed to be Linux compatible, but it simply doesn’t work. After a few days of distro hoping I settled for Kubuntu + a WiFi USB adapter(details here if you’re furious: https://sh.itjust.works/post/47717768)
I’m still hoping a future update will make the WiFi card work and that I’ll be able to remove the USB WiFi adapter. And I’m wondering if 8GB of RAM is enough for KDE (Mozilla regulatory freeze).
-For my gaming rig, I went dual boot with Bazzite and I’ll be upgrading W10 to 11 for the software not Linux compatible.
My main problem (and disappointment) is that my Logitech G915 keyboard and JBL quantum headset cannot use their specific software on Bazzite/Linux. The basic stuff works, but all the keyboard (macro keys,…) And headset (spatial sound control, two sources live mixing,…) Handy advanced features doesn’t.

Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•Pretty much every day someone parks their car on the tram tracks and blocks our city's tram network from operatingEnglish

Trams ALWAYS have priority. Whatever happens, if a car collid with a tram, the car is at fault.A friend who used to live there told me its true even if the car is empty and the tram hit it… Repeteadly…Edit: see below comment, much more complete answer!

If water previously going to Europe ends-up raining in Africa, the irony would be delightful.
