Naja, die Entscheidung verstehe ich jetzt schon. Die Chancen stehen hoch, dass der erste Wahlgang eine Art Warnschuss war nach dem Motto “pass auf, wir sind nicht alle mit Dir einverstanden”, dass es aber im zweiten Wahlgang doch zur Mehrheit kommt. Es wäre dumm, das nicht zumindest zu testen. Und dann ist es auch naheliegend, die zweite Abstimmung so schnell wie möglich durchzuführen, da jede Verzögerung ihm und der zukünftigen Regierung nur noch mehr schadet.

Und jetzt lese ich auf tagesschau.de auch noch, dass die Motivation bei Einzelnen gewesen sein könnte, dass sie keine Posten abgekriegt haben.

Das scheint aber wirklich reine Spekulation zu sein.

Ich wäre nicht überrascht, wenn zumindest ein Teil der Abweichler auch aus den Reihen der Union kommt. Zur Erinnerung: er war CDU-intern sowohl die zweite Wahl hinter AKK als auch hinter Armin Laschet.

So Merz may still be elected in a second vote. If he fails again, we will likely see a snap election, with the extremist right AfD gaining even more.

A big danger about a second vote could be the AfD voting for Merz for troll reasons. They’ve done this kind of thing before in the state parliament of Thuringia. If Merz got, say, 461 votes in a second vote, it would be obvious that he got the majority not from SPD + Union but by the votes of the AfD. This would trigger massive debates about whether the coalition partners should go ahead with government formation or not.

Another possibility is that of a different coalition forming, either Union + SPD + Greens (so including the Greens in the current planned coalition), or Union + AfD. While I could see the former happening in some scenarios (though probably with a different candidate from the Union), I think the latter will not occur at this point in time, as too many Union members and voters are still strictly opposed to cooperating with the AfD. (But I think it is a realistic scenario in future elections.)

Hab das Ding erst letzte Woche angeguckt und, naja, ich kann bestätigen, dass ich ein paar Penisse gesehen habe.

Ist im Übrigen wirklich sehenswert. Eine Kunstform, die man sonst kaum mal in Museen sieht, schon gar nicht in der Größe und Bedeutung. Die Darstellungen insbesondere von Gesichtsausdrücken oder Gesten sind auf eine Art unglaublich modern und sehr unterhaltsam. (Von diesem Teppich stammen die Memes mit den mittelalterlichen Figuren.)

Auch das Museum ist gut gemacht. Der Audioguide zum Teppich ist unbedingt zu empfehlen, weil er die dargestellte Geschichte kurz und verständlich erklärt.

Aber Achtung, das Ganze wird ab Herbst dieses Jahres für zwei Jahre umgebaut, in der Zeit wird man den Teppich nicht sehen können.
