  • I was in a work trip once and got on the plane, put on my noise cancelling headphones and started listening to music. My co-worker sitting next to me had his headphones on and was playing Angry Birds. After about 5 minutes I realized that I felt like I could hear the Angry Birds music... I removed my headphones and my coworker was blasting his sound, and apparently didn't realize that his headphones had never connected. I let him know and he was very apologetic and embarrassed. When he fixed it several people sitting around us thanked me.

  • They need to call this a Battle Cat instead of an electric horse.

  • You can eat a horse. If it comes to it.

  • we do not feel it would be fair to our supporters who have already purchased tickets & made plans to attend these shows

Because real Punk fans wouldn't be able to accept that a show had been cancelled in protest. Although, at this point are any real punk fans going to be at this show?

  • I passed a police car on the interstate a few weeks ago in Kentucky that had its windshield smashed out by snow/ice flying off the top of a semi. The amount of damage was impressive and scary.

  • My mom is what's known as an 'unreliable medical historian'... she very often hears something completely different from what her doctor tells her. I don't want to say that she lies, because I think a 'lie' is a conscious choice that people make... but I also don't think she's incapable of understanding what her doctor tells her. I think she just has an idea of what the doctor is going to say, and when it is different she has a hard time letting go of her expectation and replacing it with reality.

I have no idea if this relates to your mother or situation in any way... but if I took everything my mom said her doctor told her then she is the most unique medical specimen ever. Her diabetes is unlike anyone else's because she can still eat whatever she wants, when she wants... her doctor said that it's not a problem. And her diabetes has changed from type 2 to type 1. As she was preparing for spine surgery she was convinced that she'd be back home, on her own in 2 weeks (it was closer to 9 months). She swears that the only surgeon that her primary care doctor wants her to see is 2 states over, 6 hours from any of her family (I've looked him up, he's decent, but by no means a unique surgeon). And lots of other strange stuff over the years, including when I was a child.

  • The only thing the FDA needs to hear is that this will make a lot of money for the shareholders.

  • What I've been seeing is the opposite: companies are replacing most senior devs with junior prompters. At least 3 places where I have friends working have let go several of their more expensive senior developers and replaced them with cheaper junior developers who can use AI.

  • I went on a first date with a vegan once, and she took me to this great restaurant and I had an amazing grilled portabella burger. That day is the day I learned what eating a massive amount of mushrooms does to my stomach... I barely got home in time.

  • I received an email from Ticketmaster when tickets for how local show went on sale, and I was just curious how well they were selling, so I logged in. There were still plenty left, but they were selling much better than I was expecting... but then I noticed the prices. $60 for lawn and $200-$500 for pavilion seating. But then I noticed the front 2 rows, $4k-$5k... and they were almost all sold out.

This has to be a money laundering scheme, right? No one is actually paying that to see Kid Rock, right?

  • It's actually even better than that because I have free charging at work, so I often get home with 2/3rds of my battery capacity left.

  • Shit... and here I've just been blaming tariffs and inflation for my money disappearing!

    Damn those manufacturers.

  • I got a Chevy Volt last year and I went from spending $350 per month on gas to spending around $20 per month (up to almost $30 when it was so cold last month).

  • I'm just sad that the bill isn't written specifically to be able to block trump's pardons.

  • The Ditsy Chicks

  • When I had my vasectomy I didn't get any 'pre-procedure' prep instructions. I wasn't sure if I needed to shave my sac or if they would... I decided that since I was paying for it then I'd go for the full experience and let them do it. They didn't. The doc went in, did the snips and then closed it up with stitches and glue. Glue on a hairy sac is not fun, at all. On day 4 I was getting curious just how much glue was still left and how things were looking, so I pulled out my phone and snapped a few pics.

I thought I had deleted them, but about a month ago I was scrolling through some photos when I suddenly found several photos of the nastiest bruised, hairy and glued balls your never want to see.

  • I'm sorry, but have you met people?

I live in the suburbs, in a neighborhood and even then my neighbors are too close. Kids across the street out playing basketball at 11:30 at night. Neighbor behind my house burns their yard trash on any day that's halfway decent to be outside, meaning my wife can't be out there due to her asthma. A family on the next street over have parties several times a year where music is blasting so loud I can hear it in my bedroom until 2am. Even with these annoyances it is still a much more peaceful place to live than when I was living in apartments in the city.

  • Yeah, some communities on Lemmy don't like it when you have a nuanced take on something so I'm pleasantly surprised by the upvotes I've gotten.

I'm running a Framework Desktop with a Strix Halo and 128GB RAM and up until Qwen3 Next I was having a hard time running a useful local LLM, but this model is very fast, smart and capable. I'm currently building a frontend for it to give it some structure and make it a bit autonomous so it can monitor my systems and network and help keep everything healthy. I've also integrated it into my Home Assistant and it does great there as well.

  • Yeah, I was told that I have no idea what living paycheck to paycheck actually is like because I have a 401k.
