It's hard as hell, but for me it comes down to this: we have to decide if they're suffering so much that death would be a relief for them. Since we don't have a common language, all we can do is go by what other signs and indicators are available. I don't entirely trust veterinarians to make that decision, because in the past it has seemed to me that they tend to err on the side of euthanasia.
I tried setting one up on Mastodon with Guppe Groups, but it plunked into the void and was never seen again. I should probably try a different approach. Maybe a group on Lemmy?
Well, I just wrote and posted a review of Everything for Everyone on BookWyrm.social and copied it here (and on my Mastodon account). I'm an older reader, and I preferred older books even when I was a child. So many of the books reviewed on my BookWyrm account are pre-1980 or so. That said, there are a lot of wonderful old books - including many in the public domain - which are really worth reading!
Pretty good, but it definitely needs some of the functionality of GoodReads! There just isn't enough social interaction there. Without that, it's kind of stuck in a quiet place.
If we're lucky BRICS will declare sanctions against the US and its allied fascist regimes. Once the system collapses, perhaps China will invade and free us from American capitalism.
I'm a super-taster and thanks to lots of childhood abuse I'm hypervigilant. So pretty much everything. If a person anywhere in the area has been smoking or in a smoky room any time in the last day or two, I'll know it. I know what you last ate - and drank, if it wasn't water. I can hear a woman sobbing quietly in a locked room down the hall when nobody else can.
I see beauty in the clouds in the sky at night. I smell faint smoke on the wind. Scents that remind me of long ago, when I was a child - like the smell of shrinky-dinks coming off a hot metal mold, or pastries coming out of an Easy-bake oven. Autumn leaves swirling in an icy breeze. Or the smell of something like earwax, or tar.
I often wonder how normal people live without sensing so much of the world!
Is he going to start actually carrying through on his threats at some point? If not, what's the point?
If Trump really had balls, he'd march a bunch of ICE goons into Congress and start the executions already! And broadcast it on national TV, all channels, mandatory viewing for all Americans.
He's basically just teasing America with the fascism, at this point. I'm convinced that he's basically in a state of dementia, and doesn't really know what he's doing from day to day.
I'm still skeptical that Epstein died at all! More likely they killed some guy who looked like him and let Mossad spirit the real Epstein away to Tel Aviv, where he's living under a new identity on the beach with all the children he can r*pe.
As for Trump, no. Come on. The only way ANY of the corruption ends is with a general strike and the overthrow of the state - plus, with any luck, capitalism itself.
I hope China sanctions the USA to keep their RAM and SSDs and technology in general away from the US.
