  • Splitgate was fun. I played it for a while back when it came out and then when its popularity surged. Great concept, great execution, great arcade-style gameplay.

  • Favorite? Fuck if I know

But the Gauss Cannon from DOOM 2016? Siege mode? CHUNK GUNK*\ beedleedeep BOOOOSCHHHHHGGRRRRZZZLLLKK baron gibs everywhere The ballista from DOOM Eternal got nothing on it.

Also, there were a ton of fun guns from Bulletstorm, the game about stupid but fun guns. The quad barrel shotgun stands out in my memory quite fondly.

It’s hard to forget the amazing times to be had with the duel-wielding in Wolfenstein: The New Order. Carrying two of those semi-automatic shotguns in that game meant you could liberate nazis quite enthusiastically from their skin, blood, and organs very quickly, and very cathartically. I need to replay that game.

On the subject of nazis, I can’t forget the Wunderwaffe DG-2 from Call of Duty. Yeah, I know it’s Call of Duty, but I got to watch a dozen or so nazis’ heads explode simultaneously while they were paralyzed. That was great.

I also think there’s a very strong case to be made that the greatest gun in any FPS game is the one that drives what is arguably the greatest video game ever created: the portal gun.

Thinking about multiplayer games is a slightly different beast though.

I got so much mileage out of the Cold War in Titanfall 2 - a burst fire, energy impact-grenade launcher. It was so much fun. But moreso than that, I think I loved the Double Take - a projectile-based double-barrel DMR. It took skill to get hits and even more skill to maximize damage by getting a hit with both bullets at the same time, and while flying around the map either jumping off a wall or Spider-maning around with the best-implemented grapple hook in any multiplayer game there was nothing that felt the same.

  • Too bad there’s so many of us who signed up for withholding. Tbh I’m kinda scared I’m not gonna get my refund because it’ll be deemed an “inefficient use of government funds”

  • Who is your favorite superhero and what’s your favorite flaw of theirs?

  • So are you saying that having a large workforce isn’t key to keeping the rich rich? Because if you ask me losing 7 billion people would be a fairly large cutback in the workforce

  • Odds are that there are dozens of people way cooler than me who would benefit from the work that I can do in preparation for them.

Also, eternal life, like immortality in the annals of human history, is only something I can hope for. Making other people’s lives better is the only way I know for sure I can make a mark in the world.

As Bo Burnham puts it, “You pray so badly for heaven knowing any day could be the day that you die, but maybe life on Earth can be heaven. Doesn’t just the thought of it make it worth a try?”

  • Ok.

  • This is probably not at all what this person is like, but the way I read this made me picture someone desperate to prove that they’re cool and hip by being part of the LGBTQIA+ community. I have never heard of anyone like this, though I have heard of someone very European claiming to be native American for the street cred so I wouldn’t say no one would ever do the same with sexuality.

  • “Now I need a fake ID to rent ultra-porn!”

  • I apologize because I did not mean to make any sort of personal attack. If it came across that way that is entirely my fault.

If I can clarify in hopefully neutral terms, what I meant to say is that believing with certainty that 7 billion people are facing violent death within a generation or two cannot be good for anyone’s mental state and that sort of doom weighing on a mind will likely cause it many problems. It was not intended to be an attack on you, mainly an observation on the idea from my very limited point of view.

  • Again, if you think initiatives that are seeking to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion are about hiring people exclusively based on race or gender, you are absolutely wrong.

The reason that diversity in the workplace is actually valuable is because it leads to more doctors asking "hey, why is it that black parents and their infants are almost 3 times more likely to die during childbirth than a white parent and their infant?" The way that we get from where we are to a world where that question is asked more frequently and a solution to that problem is sought more rigorously is by asking the similar question "why are only 5.7% of doctors black while 12% of the nation is black?" and seeking a solution to that problem; and, this is very important though it seems like you already understand this part, hiring someone because of their race or their anatomy does not solve that problem in the slightest and only leads to new problems.

Solutions to the problem of too few black doctors include primarily things like proactively recruiting from locations with a higher percentage of black residents, or eliminating unconscious biases from resume reviewers by removing the name of the applicant from the resume before it's reviewed. These initiatives have never and will never be about hiring more people based on certain biologic characteristics, but about breaking the cycle of racist and sexist systems that make unqualified white men more likely to be hired than a very qualified black woman.

This is not forced diversity. If you think it is then you never actually learned what it is you're arguing against.

Edit/Addendum: I don't care if this is anarchy chess. If you're going to argue against initiatives seeking to increase diversity and equity, then you better fucking know what they are because you currently might as well be yelling into the void about how you hate it when people put motor oil on their meatball sandwiches because nobody fucking does that.

  • If you think Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion projects have ever been about hiring people simply because of their race or gender then you actually have zero idea what it’s about.

DEI initiatives have always been for investigating the root cause of proportional discrepancies in representation in a certain group and fixing that problem. Proportional representation discrepancies are a symptom of much bigger problems and half-assedly treating the symptom obviously does absolutely nothing to solve the problem and only introduces new ones.

  • Walking is probably the best way to get to know a neighborhood or city or town.

It fucking sucks that so many streets are designed to put pedestrians in danger

  • I don’t see how you can possibly be certain about this. The push to fight abortion rights and the constant bitching about how people aren’t having enough babies to maintain the workforce undermines this theory.

Unless you’re completely convinced that this is the future and the reason for it, I’d strongly suggest against stating it so certainly on the internet. Asking a question about it or stating it as a possibility given certain factors makes sense, but the way you said this can’t be good for your mental health, or the mental health of the people who read it.

  • If the point of this one is to emphasize how no one lives your life except for you, that’s great and all but holy shit there are less depressing ways of getting that across.

Humanity is a social animal. If you live your life under the guidance that loneliness is omnipresent and companionship is merely an illusion I strongly urge you to rethink the way you go about your days. Find people to talk to in person and do things with them.

I think capitalism and the ruling class has desperately tried to convince everyone that they are alone because if the working class sees themself as one body the ruling class is fucked

  • I commented on a Star Trek meme post despite having seen nothing but the Chris Pine movies for the glory of the empire!

  • I’d argue modern letters to the Christians are everywhere, but it doesn’t matter. Even if Paul were currently alive and nearing 2000 years old people would find a reason to ignore him because what they believe in is definitively not Christianity.
