  • We’re experiencing a bit of fediverse drama. https://infosec.pub/post/42793922

This is ostensibly a photo of a bloody backpack taken at an Iranian school that was bombed this weekend by the US and Israel, killing dozens of children. It’s abhorrent and unforgivable.

A post with this photo was removed from a major fediverse picture community, but a clear reason possibly wasn’t given.

One possible issue is that this image has not been verified and has shown up in several places in ways that have clearly been manipulated by AI. This makes it’s authenticity as a real photograph questionable.

The events themselves are horrific, and some argument has been made about the image potentially being “political” — which is a disgusting argument almost always used to oppress and suppress the unprivileged. The prior argument would be reasonable, but calling inconvenient and uncomfortable injustices “political” is a behavior that needs to end.

  • There are two genders. Male and political.

There are two sexualities. Straight and political.

There are two ethnicities. White and political.

There are two languages. English and political.

Calling other people’s lives and deaths political is a sign of highly ignorant privilege. Everyone should be outraged when others are written off as “political” any time their suffering is considered inconvenient or uncomfortable. Do better.

  • They are MapleMAGA and have openly expressed vile, racist, anti-immigrant, neo-nazi rhetoric. Engaging with them will not be productive.

  • I wonder if the bereaved parents consider the mass murder of their children “politics?”

  • I’ve been following them for a few years and they’ve been very transparent about their progress. They’re building their production-intent validation vehicles now, so unless there are any major flaws they can’t work out, shipping this year or next seems possible. The world needs a vehicle that costs nothing to operate — at least in places with a lot of sun like California.

  • Rivians are everywhere here in LA, but they seem to only be for the rich.

I’m keeping an eye on Aptera, a solar powered vehicle based in San Diego that may start delivering this year.

  • Whole oats.

  • For two days. The surprising thing about this was that the benefits took two days. It’s not a permanent diet.

  • This is a neat project. You should consider moving this to Codeberg, though. Github is a serious risk for FOSS projects.

  • This is the answer.

  • I had to calm myself down when I realized how right you were and how fucked up that is.

  • We could build hundreds of thousands of homes for families that need them, but it goes to stealing water, power, and land instead.

  • The difference is that the media used to be independent. Now the media is now almost completely captured by the accomplices, supporters, and puppeteers of these atrocities.

  • Yes. This is the first step to doing with technology what they have done with housing, transport, media, and agriculture. The noose has nearly closed.

  • Because the rules of english heavily imply it.

Your first sentence is clearly rhetorical.

Your second sentence poses a questions as an alternative.

Your final sentence, not being a question, can be inferred to be an answer to the alternative question posed, reinforced by the fact that english includes a right-branching bias and “nearest noun” assumption.

This is also the internet, and people say mathematically and factually incorrect things constantly, so there is no reason for a casual reader to break the formal or informal rules of english to decide whether a rather straightforward comment is actually ambiguously misphrased rather than merely incorrect.

I hope this answers your question.

  • I love this. It’s a genuinely good idea.

  • $5 million is four small, rotting old homes in California. Maybe eight in the middle of the desert.

I like this legislation, but I also think that all income from residential property the owner does not occupy should be over 100% and property taxes over 50% per year. Nobody needs more than one home, and if you have them, you should pay society dearly for each you keep out of the hands of those who need it.

  • Here is a sloppy iPhone text copy from the photo, for anyone else having trouble reading on a small screen. OP, feel free to add this to your post to make it easy for others to read.

    Hi Taylor,

Sorry for my late reply. We just came back from the Chinese New Year holiday.

Thank you for checking in. I really appreciate your patience.

I'd like to share a quick update regarding the S1 Max. At the moment, our promotion team is temporarily short on sample units, so the shipment has not yet been arranged. We are currently coordinating the second round of our promotion plan and reviewing allocation.

Additionally, I want to be transparent about one technical aspect: the 51 Max's open-source structure is currently positioned similarly to the early-stage setup of the Kobra X. I understand that system openness can be an important consideration for you and your audience, so I'd love to better understand your expectations on this point before we proceed further.

Given the current timeline and product positioning, could you kindly let me know whether you would still be interested in moving forward once stock becomes available? Your feedback will help us better evaluate how to arrange the next step.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

Best regards. ANYCUBIC Marketing Specialist Anycubic Marketing Team

    To: I

    Hi l

I'm disappointed that it sounds like you've changed your review plan.

We've been in discussion for months.

It sounds to me that you didn't like my feedback on the license violations for Kobra X.

The truth is that you are obligated to abide by the open source licenses of the software from which you borrow.

If you choose not to include me in your review plan because I took a stand on this topic, I don't think that will reflect well on your brand

I included the feedback Esther gave on this topic in the video so my audience could hear your stance on this first hand.

I am still interested in moving forward but I'd like to see you change your strategy on this.

It's not just important to me, it's important to your customers too.

    Thanks, Taylor

    Update

Here is the text shown in the video when Taylor first contacted them about the licensing compliance.

    Open-source compliance & ecosystem (firmware / slicer)

This is the part we most want to clarify carefully, because the current wording can come across as "we're ignoring GPL," which is not our intent.

    Firmware:

For previous products (e.g., S1 / K3), we have already published the portions required under our GPL obligations. For this new product, the open-source release plan is currently being organized and reviewed internally We completely understand the expectation, it's a new launch so it isn't ready immediately, but we do plan to publish in the same way we did for S1/k3.

    Slicer:

We are planning a modular open-source release aligned with GPL requirements. The current expected timeline is within one quarter.

So the key point we hope comes across is: we're not dismissing GPL, we're in the process of aligning the release for a new product, and we're committing to publish as we've done previously.

We'd like you to make the necessary adjustments to the video content so that it visually and narratively reflects these points accurately

Thanks again, and genuinely, we respect the honest review approach. We just want to make sure the "facts" portions land correctly for your viewers.
