Good. What this should do is also invigorate our economy and have us explore alternatives that we can produce here. Even before this nonsense I was worried about our heavy dependence on the U.S., but here we are now with it punching us in the gut.
Federal government should really give funding boosts to greenhouse farms right about now so that we can grow more stuff here out of season and not import from say, California all the time.
Why do we continue to pretend that India is an ally? Nothing against the people that come here from there of course, but we sure as hell have a weirdly comfortable relationship with a country that has no issues in assassinating people on our soil.
It’s not federated by any means, but if you want to replace FANDOM wikis with other equivalents, Indie Wiki Buddy is a great extension to have on hand.
There’s options to remove FANDOM from search results in favour of other options, and they also allow you to redirect to the Breezewiki frontend for FANDOM to get rid of all those shitty ads and UI, which is legal considering the contents of FANDOM pages are still under the Commons.
Thanks, might explore that as an option.
Thanks! Appreciate it.
Thanks! Much appreciated.
Quite the opposite actually, apparently the authour was classmates with Julia Child.
The yield is 4-6 servings. Wish I could do more to give an approximation, but I gave the full recipe to another comment if that at all helps.
Recipe is really short, so here’s pretty much the full thing:
Sauerkraut Soup Russian-Style
3 to 4 tablespoons butter (am substituting with margarine)
1 onion, sliced
2 small carrots, sliced
1 potato, peeled, sliced
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon tomato puree
3/4 pound sauerkraut
4 to 5 cups Basic Beef Stock (references other recipe in book, substituting with premade vegetable broth)
1 tablespoon chopped parsley (substituting with half the amount in dried parsley)
1 teaspoon chopped chervil (might omit or replace with half amount herbes de provence since store doesn’t sell)
Sour cream
Melt butter; cook onion and carrots until golden. Add potato. Stir in flour; when smooth, add tomato puree and sauerkraut. Cook a few minutes; stir constantly. Add stock and herbs; bring to boil. Simmer about 40 minutes; season to taste. Serve hot with sour cream in each soup cup. Yield 4 to 6 servings.
Do you think it would work as a replacement for regular cabbage in borscht? While I love sauerkraut, cabbage rolls are a bit hard for me as I’m trying to go vegan, and I can’t seem to find many vegan cabbage roll recipes.
Nope, whole sour cabbage.

Something I’ve been wanting to work on is repairing old analogue electronics and putting those to use, like VCRs and the likes. While I totally get why we’ve moved on from older formats like VHS, I feel tossing that generation of electronics aside when they still work perfectly fine is a bit of an injustice considering how durable a lot of those were made.
Something that’s especially stood out is the old CED format. Have never seen a player despite having seen the discs out and about sometimes, and the ones online never seem to be in working condition.
I think 20 Mule Team Borax has the same effect on their box.
Taking a look at Swisscows right now. My only concern with them is that I know they filter out sites with adult content, and I do have worries on how that’s applied to results with explicit song lyrics or album covers.
I gave this a shot since I do like and trust Mojeek, but unfortunately it doesn’t appear to bring in any results when I use the search “site:bandcamp.com attribution non-commercial share alike” (not in quotes).
Putting personal thoughts aside, Imma be blunt and say this seems kinda hyper-specific for a community.
Honestly depends, but if you want an all-around good instance on a misskey fork, try lethallava.land
I have some stoneware plates that are from IKEA. My worries with using a plate were both the heat potentially cracking and/or breaking the plate, or the pot boiling over while the contents are hidden underneath unlike with a glass lid.
Honestly Misskey forks for all their flaws can absolutely take this opportunity to properly advertise themselves as viable alternatives. As someone who uses a Misskey fork, I love the UI in comparison to Mastodon, and the communities in Misskey forks are a lot less techie and a lot more laid back and goofy most of the time from my personal experience.
This is the recipe here, I came across it through the writer’s YouTube channel: https://rainbowplantlife.com/10-ingredient-vegan-red-lentil-bolognese/
RIP, it didn’t keep the GIF animated. https://files.catbox.moe/zyd6n8.gif
