  • No compassion for fascism but every fascist was once a small child, seeking love and attention. They didn't deserve to be mistreated but they eventually became a monstrous person that we now have to defend against without also losing our own humanity in the process.

  • There is something fascinating about using visual cues as a means of self organisation. We think of it as completely normal but other people see chaos. These coping strategies independently arise in ADHD people. Until very recently I just assumed everyone did this and it has been super interesting to learn that a lot of my behaviours and habits are workarounds. You make the best hand with the cards you have been dealt. That said I do get upset if someone moves my keys. Who knows it may have even been me because I can't remember but the important thing is to be compassionate with ourselves and others.

  • Bring forth the ceremonial cudgels, it's imperial units bashing time.

The chain (abbreviated ch) is a unit of length equal to 66 feet (22 yards), used in both the US customary and Imperial unit systems. It is subdivided into 100 links. There are 10 chains in a furlong, and 80 chains in one statute mile. In metric terms, it is 20.1168 m long.

ahhh good hit, that's the stuff.

  • Given the general discontent with healthcare it feels inevitable. People identify with Mangione's plight in a way they don't with the money grubbing CEO.

  • Who's gonna make all the technology, music, art, etc, after we've finally cured autism? We might have to start re-autisming people.

  • Excellent news. Autism finally squared away. We can dedicate our scientists to finding a cure for trumpism.

  • Settlers storm mosque brandishing placards depicting insignia of the Hitlerjugend and declare allegiance, confident that they will be lauded as liberators fighting against tyranny.

But seriously, how delusion are these settlers that they are on the right side of history? When this current shift to the authoritarian right is finally over there needs to be a serious reckoning with the crimes, in the way that happened in postwar Germany and Japan. They marched German civilians past gigantic piles of corpses, they mandated a humane legal constitution and the situation steadily improved since then.

  • Scientists intrigued why idiots thinking it's intriguing that there are rocks floating around in space.

  • The interesting thing about narcissists is that they don't know what they are. The world is a very hostile and confusing place for someone who has something like dementia or narcissism. We shouldn't lose our humanity and compassion for anybody but we can't have this. At the very least it's obviously unsustainable to have mental orange grandpa and his handpicked stooges at the helm. It's not a question of if but when this regime collapses under its own weight of bullshit.

  • This is a way of life for people with attention deficit. When I put my keys down in an unfamiliar place I get anxiety because I know my future self is potentially going to waste hours looking for them.

  • Drug Science. A campaign to improve drug literacy and advocate for novel therapy, harm reduction, decriminalisation and legalisation via podcasts, mass meetings and seminars by experts in neuroscience, psychopharmakinetics, pharmacology and related fields.

Wikipedia, duh. It works because it's free of advertising and corporate influence. That costs money and I am a happy subscriber.

Electronic Frontier Foundation. A campaign to defend our right to privacy and freedom from exploitation in the digital space.

Sustrans. A campaign to maintain, improve and extend the alternatives to using cars and make a humane and ecologically sustainable transport network.

  • I like your style. My day was spent deep in my special interests, today it was building a window in my workshop. Set the podcast to play and let the wood chips fly.

  • The only people this effects is people who don't know how to operate a torrent client or have a friend that does, e.g the old people that dream up these ineffectual laws. They want to put the genie back in the bottle by making it someone else's problem and it will fail like the war on drugs has utterly failed.

Meanwhile, back in reality, developing normal sexual relationships is much more complicated than abstaining from porn. It comes from a cohesive society that values education, healthcare, community and compassion for others. How are we still trying to make abstinence only methods work despite their horrible track record? Our politicial class are mendacious morons from a bygone era.

  • Capitalism prevailed during the rise of the internet but correlation is not causation.

Rockets were sent into space and capitalists would surely love to claim that achievement too, unfortunately it was first fascists followed by communists with the capitalists getting the bronze medal. Should we now decide that space flight is fascist-communist? No. Only scientists and engineers know how to do that. Why didn't Genghis Khan invent the internet? He didn't have enough capitalists, surely that was the problem.

  • Go Esther. The people who asked you to remove that flag don't want to be reminded that they are standing by while a genocide is underway.

  • We can claim anything we like and also retract any statement except when a user claims to be 14. That person remains at age 14 for all time. Is this the logic? What about all the 'damage' that was done before they discovered the underage user? Somebody should look into that, they might find themselves face to face with a 51 year old who takes a prescription stimulant every day.

  • Philosophy gets a bad rap, even by fellow academics sometimes. Commonly cited criticisms are that it has become too prosaic and detached from society at large. Maybe that's true of some philosophers but I don't see a problem with people studying something purely for the joy of learning and there are philosophers who do an excellent job of explaining philosophical ideas to lay audiences, Alain de Botton immediately springs to mind. Status Anxiety is among my favourite videos.

The reality is that we have too few people who think about what it means to live a good life and make a wholesome society

  • Rest in piss

  • This is what peak trolling looks like guise. It has all the elements for a perfect recipe. Bloated and petulant narcissist target, check. Corpulent and obsequious hosts, check. Incredibly damaging and embarrassing open secret that nobody wants to publicly discuss but everyone is dying to find out what's in the dossier, chef's kiss.
