  • That’s exactly why targeted direction of development in China is so powerful. They have alternatives to almost every US tech company, basically the only country with that kind of sovereignty on earth. Other countries should follow suit, and incentivize development of local alternatives. I’m from the US, but I can’t say I wouldn’t be glad to see people wean off US tech, it would be good for all of us.

  • Wow you’re right, those are all totally viable as primary generation methods, and totally possible to set up in the 2 years since the war started on the scale needed to replace the pipelines you’ve been relying on for decades.

  • What alternatives do they have? We’re seeing Germanys economy in free fall, VW closing plants for the first time ever, because their only alternative is US LNG, which costs massively more than the energy they had been getting from Russia.

  • In fact they did stop, immediately after the thing they demanded in order to stop happened.

  • He’s on the wrong side. The Empire is the United States as a whole. Specifically, the US empire during Vietnam era.

  • Because you’re a reactionary.

  • Fun fact, Facebook was caught doing the same thing with its apps. Hell, Facebook was caught FORCING YOUR MICROPHONE ON AND RECORDING YOUR CONVERSATIONS

  • They don’t have data outside the US. Oracle handles all TikTok data for US users locally.

  • That’s a big part of it too, but i think an even bigger part is the use of TikTok in counter culture. It is definitively the largest gathering of counter culture on the web. They fear losing control of the narrative. The intelligence agencies already control Meta and google. They have members on TikTok’s board. Social media is an avenue for consent manufacturing for our government, and any deviation from their manufactured line is unacceptable.

  • There’s fools all over Reddit and lemmy saying the same thing. I had a guy argue that because in 2011 60% we’re overweight in Gaza, that means today no one is starving.

  • Wow so cool, responding to someone taking the time to point out why your eugenicist rhetoric is definitively and provably incorrect, and you just respond with memes. You’re so nonchalant.

  • I mean, because it’s not true.

We have more than enough resources to feed everyone on earth. We have the land, we have the money to pay the farmers, we have the infrastructure to transport it anywhere in the world easily and quickly. The issue we’re having isn’t too many people, but a small group of people utilizing multiples of the energy they need, and dozens of multiples of the energy of the masses of the world.

  • You realize westerners regularly go to Gaza and don’t end up thrown off buildings, right?

  • It’s irrelevant whether or not they were hamas. They could sit outside the doors and arrest them when they leave, but going into a hospital to kill people is literally the behavior of nazis.

  • All your enemies are judeo-bolsheviks. If they weren’t, they wouldn’t be your enemies, right?

  • Somalian Pirates were actually often protecting their territorial waters from foreign opportunists plundering in the collapse of the Somalian government. The framing as pirates only works in the sense that these weren’t state-driven fleets, but rather civilian driven in order to protect their livelihoods against corporate raiders.

  • It might help if the US stops staging war games based on assassinating their leadership and invading the country. Like, maybe they could stick to defensive war games based on protecting SK, at least.
