  • Community colleges only offer up to associate's degrees. If you happen to live in a state where they got bumped up to colleges that offer bachelor's, then maybe, but those tend to have limited 4-year degrees and aren't going to really help anyone land lucrative jobs. A person with a 4-year degree from Orange County College will likely get passed up for a person with a degree from State University.

Master's and doctorate's are only given at universities and their tuitions are typically at least 3 times more per credit. Those include nurse educators, therapists, social workers, public school teaching managers, public administrators, non-profit managers, professors, historians, sociologists, community organizers, ... basically any type of specialized public servant and social scientist that makes okay middle-class income is going to be in significant student debt while also coming out of school later. Lots of these don't even get to start making the okay income until several years of experience in the field. Also, just because a teacher has a master's degree doesn't mean there's a public school manager position available, and when there is, it's going to be a competitive hiring process where many will apply but only one gets hired.

That means that many people don't achieve these positions until their 30s. By that time, they've likely been paying very little into their student debt, possibly allowing interest to accrue and increase the amount owed. Once they make enough to actually start decreasing the principle, they're also getting a home loan and start raising children, which is even more expenditure. Being a lower- to middle- class millennial and younger with a goal of tertiary education is practically an unaware commitment to being a debt slave.

  • What a dumb headline. "We're just thinking about it. We're also thinking about going to the beach on Sunday. 🫳🤜"

  • yep! that's how the trap works. a red flag is a red flag no matter how many other green flags there are. this one is clearly a boundary bulldozer. imagine everything the OP in the screenshot had to go thru to block Jessica. yet, she's still finding a way to contact them. im having flashbacks from this. 😵‍💫

  • The two things that appeal to me about the folding phone are (1) protecting the screen from scratches, especially in my pocket or backpack and (2) that when folded, I wont accidentally touch the screen in a way that will register as a click or swipe. The last one in particular is super annoying to me. However, it doesn't seem like the technology is ready for this yet since it sounds like the folding mechanism breaks easily. And ofc, I never buy anything Apple.

  • I was in the US Marine Corps and deployed with the front lines for the 2003 Invasion of Iraq. I never once even considered putting my M-16 on burst. I also had a 240G, which we're taught to fire in little burts, about the time it takes to yell, "Run, fuzzy bunny, run!" Firing full auto is terrible practice. That Rambo style is for movies. Aiming is nearly impossible because of the tendency for the recoil to push the muzzle up, you're wasting rounds, and you can also overheat the muzzle, potentially melting it to the point of making the firearm inoperable. Additionally, full auto on a magazine-fed firearm means you'll have to reload in mere seconds, so the only way that would be helpful for maximum death is with one of those drums, which makes the rifle heavy as shit. Basically, full auto is pointless unless you're using a firearm specifically designed for that, fighting a military force, have logistics to support your amm needs, and are using a "machine gun" starting with at least a M249 SAW. Even then, anything beyond that would likely require a second person to help.

  • Share away, please! Btw, I believe everyone has the right to understand in their own way how autism and society interact, so please don't feel the need to exert too much effort on pedantry unless you really want to. Personally, I appreciate diverse persepectives because I feel it gives me a well-rounded view of the situation. It's like if we were all standing around an object. I can only see my side, but if we all shared our own perspectives, then we could see 360*.

  • I'm happy for you :)

  • better make it one of those Voodoo Rangers with their wine level alcohol percentage. a 6 pack of those will kick my butt for the rest of the day before I even realize it. I'll be like, "Hmm. This beer is pretty good despite it being fruity." ...5 mins later... "Omg, why am I so drunk? I need to go to bed." ...next morning... "What happened?"

  • American here. What's a toonie?

  • That is a fantastic painting! The artist nailed it.

  • That's 16 shots to whomever loses. No joke, I'd be drunk for 2 days if I had that many.
