  • But... You sit on it, with almost your whole weight? I'm sure a person like 30% heavier than me sitting is equal to me standing on the toilet.

I would say the dangerous part is that it's not designed to be stood on, i.e. it's slippery, uneven, not big enough, rather than the weight being the real problem.

  • How can I willfully ignore that for which there is no information on? For all we know, the person that was killed could have been led there under false pretenses, could have been forced to be there, was heavily abused and then emotionally exploited to be there, the beating could've been made because he slept with one of the attackers girlfriend, etc etc etc

There are countless explanations that could lead to this attack being absolutely unrighteous, and unless there is some more information about the backgrounds, celebrating this death is just irrational hate and tribalism.

  • No, I'm not ignoring the context.

There's a reason the death penalty has been abolished in most of the world. Just because someone kills people doesn't mean that you should kill them in turn, and celebrating deaths is similar.

Especially when it is not clearly known who the victim was.

  • They're giving you the answer my dude... Look at the sidebar or web search their phrases

  • See it from the bright side. Almost all work is like this. That means if you are able to function in your company, you could do it almost everywhere else. You personally have not much to fear.

It's just the collective system that allows all this which is probably going to lead to problems.

  • This comment section looks exactly like the comment section of a post in a right-wing place that discusses the news of a far left person being killed.

  • The thing is, you have no idea what the specific stance of the specific person was that was killed. There is almost 0 information here. And still everyone acts like it is obviously justified, because it looks right.

That's really not how we should conduct ourselves.

  • No, let's lie to each other a bit more, I'm tired of explaining this.

  • Pedophiles should indeed be protected. They should get as little random violence and degradation or whatever as anyone else.

Of course, they need to get as much targeted violence from the state as is appropriate for their crimes, i.e. going on trial and convicted. That's what they can't be "protected" from.

  • People regularly underestimate children. They are full humans, they just lack some experience. And as this article shows, that lack of experience can also make them less biased, which is even a good thing.

  • It's more accurate than no eye witness at all, which when making a decision based on 0 evidence is also roughly 0% accurate. At least eye witness is at like 60% iirc.

  • You know your point with the child defeats itself, right? The only reason the child was this happy about the ice cream was because it did a new thing (getting ice cream from the funny ice cream man). If it would have followed your theory, it should have never had this ice cream experience, as to keep the potential of being this excited? It just doesn't make any sense, it basically means you'd never be this happy for ice cream because you'd never do it.

And anyway, I'd thoroughly enjoy this bit experiencing it myself. If I'd have the same amount of joy as the child, I don't know, but it doesn't matter either. I really don't care to compare myself with others, for me it's enough if I would have my own amount of fun, whatever that is.

  • If you'd like my personal experience:

My parents offered me money (if not much else), and always encouraged me to do new things. As a result, I did a lot of different things in my life, in fact, it'll be hard for you to name any one "common" thing I haven't done.

Now I play video games most of my time, and I have a lot of fun doing that. I enjoy cooking a good meal. I love looking at a sunset. All the different experiences I had led to me being able to enjoy the repetitive, same things. I don't mind not doing many different things. I have no regrets.

So while I'm sure what you say can be true for some person, for me, it is definitely not. I'm not any more bored with the same old things than I was before doing everything. I'm very happy just doing few things, I don't need a new thing every day to be happy. At the same time, if an opportunity presents itself, that I morally agree with, I don't fear to take it, I don't say "oh if I do this new thing the old things will be boring", I just take the opportunity and later go back to the old thing, as happy as before.

  • The reason you "should experience everything at least once" is not for happiness reasons, it's so that you have a diverse set of experiences to draw from that makes you more prepared for every other new experience. The more you have already experienced, the more you can talk with people about things, the more you understand about the world, the more open you are, in short, it just makes you a more well-rounded, "better" person.

Seeing new things as "just a way for Dopamine to be generated" is too single-dimensional.

That does not mean you have to "fall to consumerism". Going on a friend's small boat to learn to sail is different than taking a cruise. Building a model plane out of spare parts is different than buying the newest drone. You can keep experiencing new things all the time without being a "dumb consumer".

  • Then you should start with that :D

  • Did you see any mention in my comment of pretending it is healthy?

Do you think voicing disgust is going to help them?

Do you think unpromptedly telling them their whole worldview is unhealthy is going to help them, or do you think it is going to push them further into it?

  • Let them do their thing, you don't have to publicly state your disgust. Just block and move on if you don't want to see it. Be kind.

  • Isn't queer technically also neurodivergent?

  • Why do you care so much what other people say? Have you ever noticed this smell yourself?

I've personally never experienced any smell nor even this talk you say that "people say".
