  • Did a week as a challenge/experience. I read up a bit beforehand and just made sure I got enough water and electrolytes. Was getting hungry during the first day and more during the second, but then it just kinda stopped. I felt tired and weak a bit but apart from that everything fine.

  • Obviously, but it gets reinforced there.

  • The thing is, teenage boys learn this behavior from social media. If we had told boys not to use it, they might have not turned out like that.

  • I love you all, but I wouldn’t want you interacting with a 15 year old girl.

Such a strange thing to say. A lot of the people here probably have daughters around that age. A lot of the people here are perfectly normal people.

Such a strange thing to say.

    Wait, you include yourself?! 🤣

  • I was recently at a kind of convention on the topic of "how to build a sustainable society". There were two ~40 yr old ladies in the row in front of me.

One got out this super shiny copper flask. The lady next to her was like "oh that looks nice!" and they start talking about it. The lady that got it out said something about copper, its health impacts blabla and how she got it last week from Amazon.

And I'm just sitting there, holding it together, almost laughing out of frustration, about this whole situation.

Like, maybe she did actually need a bottle to hydrate herself outside, but...

  • Thanks :)

  • Most of what I believe is from statements made by people who escaped North Korea, and they don't paint a nice picture of their own country. I understand that obviously those escaping will hold the worst views, but it just seems weird to me how everything they say should be fabrication.

Same with Chinese, I know someone who has left China because of political prosecution, so comparing North Korea to China doesn't make it better in my opinion.

Also reminder that this doesn't mean China is all bad either in my opinion, it just seems both are far from perfect.

  • I recently read this, is all of what is contained within a lie?

  • I didn't say anyone else was better... Especially not the USA lol

  • North Korea is not all bad, there are plenty of good things too. But there's also no doubt about it not being super good, is there? Like the Kim's rule is absolute and authoritarian, there's like a whole worship culture over there, and going against that you get sent to labour/reeducation camps, for example.

  • You can already secure boot if you want. But like always, you gotta set it up yourself in a complicated manner :D

  • I just saw a political advertisement in Germany saying, "don't throw out your money, use it in front of your own door" (it's a saying, doesn't translate perfectly), implying that if you use your money for other's benefit, it is wasted.

    People are selfish

  • The article talks about a rise since the 1990s. But yes, more spikes during Trump terms.

  • Understood :) I just didn't know that, and it seemed very problematic at first.

  • To the first part, this is no reductionism or whatever, I'm just asking a question.

To the second part, thank you for explaining your terminology, for me "death to [country]" meant "to the whole country, including the people". I would have used "dismantle the government of [country]" instead, to say what you mean.

  • Are there stats for how much voting eligible users there are, and how much of them actually vote on governance topics, or see (click on) governance topics?

  • The countries you wish death for are roughly 90% proletariat. How can you want death for the one, but not the other?
