  • Look, the man is an awful person, but don't give him THAT much credit. Goldwater, Nixon, Reagan, Lee Atwater and anyone involved in the southern strategy was major parts of it. McConnell, "The Freedom Caucus", and "Tea Party" were major parts of it. The Koch Brothers with the heritage foundation is a major part.

And this is the short list. I didn't go into the evengelicals, AM conservative pundits, Rupert Murdoch and so much more.

  • I've owned exactly 0 playstations. The last new(ish) system I had was an N64. Could afford a laptop that could play games but also do schoolwork or have a console, so stuck with computers ever since.

The only time I've played Sony based games is when they're on PC. So... guess Sony is losing my money. I know it's not much, but interesting to get rid of the small revenue stream in hopes to get people back on console but I guess I don't understand how fishing for whales is the winning task.

  • Having worked in factories, the coffee in them is usually the strongest and always available, Blue collar lives on the stuff,

  • psst "States Rights" only really became an argument from the right wing when passing the civil rights acts.

  • I'm sorry, gonna call bullshit here on the last election.

The D candidate and running mate were gun owners and comfortable owning and using guns. The R candidate when he was President literally said "Take the guns first, go through due process second,"

YET when that's discussed, somehow it's (D)ifferent to the gun owners. The "Gun grabbing democrats" won't stop but Trump saying that but not going through was fine.

So when coworkers are suddenly now worried he might be coming for their guns my response is just call me Cassandra because I saw it coming and here we are!

  • My dad has been saying that the Republicans were going to be the ones taking guns when people go on about "gun grabbing democrats" since Reagan apparently. I was only long enough to hear him say that around Bush era onward but this is my shocked face that he was right.

  • I don't feel for him. I live in Missouri which is the state that keeps getting more and more red while shitting on everyone every step of the way. If he couldn't figure that out he's an idiot.

If he was of voting age to remember the last time Trump was in power, he's an idiot.

He's crying now, but the second things are working okay for him and he has a chance to hate again, he'll start hating again.

I have no use for these assholes anymore.

  • Of course they condemned Islam for that. It's Islam.

For Christianity, it's different for the evangelicals.

  • I live in Missouri where they're trying everything they can to get guns into the hands of children as soon as possible, outlawing gun laws even in local municipalities.

Something tells me they're not going to be having the same tune when it's not white straight christians.

  • I have found a couple times an LLM being good for searches. My example is scooters in the US, because of commute I'd like to find an electric scooter, the kind like a Vespa. But you do a search, you find all sorts about the standing scooters, look for electric motorcycles and they start getting to car level prices or aren't street legal, it gets to be a mess. Chat GPT turned that search into a relatively quick one that I could find a local place that I'm going to check out when there's not ice on the ground. But the important part was making it require links. As a tool, it can have its uses.

So all of that said... Google and other searches doing AI did fuck all and nothing to help on this, and I agree 100% I do not want AI on the search for DDG

  • I could be wrong but I figured the most humane was was an oxygen displacement gas seeing as how quickly a body goes unconcious without o2.

  • My dad has always said it'd be the Republicans who would take guns.

    They're working for it.

  • The trouble with that is the blue states would be the coasts, and the red states down the middle...

  • Ehhhhhh... I don't have faith in it. The manufacturing sector has been in the process of getting worse back when I tried to get into it in 08, and finally gave up on actually finding work in the industry and moved to healthcare. I know people who've quit welding jobs because they hit the ceiling on pay and it's still not making living wages here in the midwest.

Yet that's an industry that has consistently anti-union my entire life. They just buy into the foreigners taking their jobs. I fear the programming sector will drink the same koolaid, just Indians instead of Mexicans.

  • Ugh... so many of these, and I look around. I know I'm at minimum 4th generation US on both sides of my family.

  • I have multiple of the bone conducting ones. The main ones. The backup ones for when I forget them. The backup backup ones that was two generations ago and the microphone crapped out on that lives in my desk at work in case I forgot the backup ones.

  • 10 mm sockets

This is a lie. One will never suffice. That thing will disappear the second you look away.

  • I agree on the tricking them, but there's another part I look at. Basic fucking pattern recognition. The jobs have stopped being the in demand for a while now, and they're not so much on the negotiating power. But the idea of a union is still apparently more anathema and are shocked at these mass layoffs that keep happening.

  • And if you are american: fucking fix your government

I live in a red state where our last two Attorney Generals used the position as a ladder to go to the senate. The first one on the whole Jan 6 attack ran like a coward after fist pumping to the crowd of rioters. The state loved it so much they elected his clone.

Some states are just choke holded by a cult. This isn't a top down thing, no matter how much the President thinks he is. No, down to the grass roots we are fucked to a level that I don't see how we come back from.

The worst part, the state I'm in now is an improvement from the last one I escaped.
