  • Yeah, that's an interesting point. Perhaps there are cultural difference that makes it more difficult to let go of old grudges.

Or maybe Europe is just more used to fighting eachother and becoming friends again once it's over.

I mean, I'm Swedish, we may joke about the Danes and talk shit about them. But if something serious were to actually happen we'd stand behind them no questions asked. And I'm pretty sure we have the record for most wars and battles fought between two nations.

  • Yeah well, it's not always easy to be friends when one invades and commit countless of atrocities against the other.

  • It depends on the context, don't you think?

I don't think anyone will assume you started the fire just because you're sorry someone had to evacuate.

But let's say you're out in public, there's people all over, you bump into someone, or someone bumps into you, you're not sure, but either way, they fall down and injure themselves. Thanks to this, you can say "I'm sorry" without having a lawyer argue that you accepted guilt for the incident just because you said you're sorry.

  • I've never seen an "allergy warning". But like I said. Ingredients are always listed under the dish.

  • What part of his comment made you think he's a shill for big business and pushing for deregulation?

  • It's not required in Sweden at least. But most menus will list ingredients or descriptions so you know what you're ordering. I dunno, it's never been a problem...

This sounds like California is just going to get a repeat of "prop 65".

I can see how everything will have an asterisk that reads "may contain trace amounts of, bla, bla, bla, etc...."

  • I'm perfectly good. I just don't believe the majority of Americans keep all of their liquid assets in cash. Seeing as the IRS have the ability to freeze assets.

  • Unless the US as a UNIT, all keep their life savings under their mattress, they're not going to achieve much by refusing to file their taxes.

  • I dunno man, IRS doesn't fuck around. That's literally how Capone went down.

In fact, tax agencies all over the world typically don't fuck around. It's one of the few cases where you'll often be guilty until proved innocent.

  • I'm not going to say I know exactly how the process is made. But I know forgeiners can open bank accounts without having a Swedish personnummer. Provided you have a good reason to do so. E.g. employment as the classic example. But being a student should also be a good reason.

In essence. They just want to make sure you're not laundering money. That is their biggest concern.

Also, I would recommend that you take it easy at first on your transfers. I don't know if the Swedish bank can handle dollars or if they will automatically exchange it to SEK, but it's currently semi-stable at about ~9.6SEK per USD, coming down from an all time high of ~11SEK per USD at the start of the year. Make of that as you will. But it's worth keeping in mind to decide when and how much you want to transfer at a time.

  • That's a very tough situation. You're right that you can't do much without a BankID these days.

You can always get proper medical aid. Though as a non EU citizen you'll have to pay full price for your visit and potential medication.

But you should be able to open a bank account despite not having a personnummer. Assuming you have a valid US Passport, it should be possible. You'll have to visit a bank in person and bring your passport and explain why you need a bank account and how you intend to use it. Explaining that you are a student here and need to transfer forgein funds from your american bank in order to be able to pay for expenses should be a valid reason.

  • Let's put it this way. I've seen lots of people wear headphones at the gym.

I've also never seen anyone wearing them (any type of headphones/ear buds) doing serious workout.

I'm not judging. Showing up is better than not. Every day can't be a 100% day. Just my observation though.

  • Do they teach them nothing? Cop doesn't even try to sprawl.

  • Lycka till.

  • Maybe you shouldn't treat random images you find on the internet as factual until you can verify the content.

  • the US doesn't want Canada and Denmark.

Trump speaking nonsense just to get attention for the sake of getting attention is a different matter than what the US actually want.

Not to mention that it's never been about wanting Denmark. It's about putting Military bases on Greenland. Which they already have under a current agreement. And the US isn't even reaching the quota of the current agreement.

It doesn't matter what Trump says. The US is not going to just casually invade a fellow NATO member. And Canada isn't going to either. Especially not over Mexico.

So you see why it would matter less to Europe?

Why what would matter less to Europe? Are you trying to say that just because Russia already had access to the Black Sea, that it somehow wouldn't matter to Europe that they invaded Ukraine and violated their sovereignty?

Either you're on something you shouldn't be. Or you're off something you shouldn't be. Whatever it is. Good luck.

  • Yes. Thank you. So please explain how the US would have anything to do, with granting them access via that route. If anything. It looks like it's up to Finland, Norway, Iceland and Denmark to exert control over what is right next to their maritime border.

The note on the black sea was about Crimea

They don't need Crimea to have access to the black sea. They already had access to it.

  • What are you even talking about? Russia already have access to the Black Sea. And have had since the birth of their country.

And what do you even mean "give them control" of the North Atlantic? When was the last time you looked at a map of the globe?

  • Ehm.... I disagree. Everyone would see it as a first strike. Because that's what it is.

Canada has no military alliance with Mexico as far as I know.

I honestly can't believe you put the words "be realistic about it" in the context of Canada striking the US.

If Europe didn't do more than sending weapons to Ukraine. Why would they do anything more to Canada? Which, would be logistically, an almost impossible task.
