Super neat, when I had Windows, I had it so that when a Teams call started it set my room lights to a nice ambient, and turned on a ring light, as well as turned on a icon on my dashboard that let me partner know I was in a call in the office.
This is a vision I could get behind, and I already do a ton of self-hosting for that stuff! The theoretical simplification, easier conceptual understanding, and easier portability would all be very nice plusses over what we have now.
Buy it does feel a bit to me like creating just one more perfect standard, and then we will have our fracultured world, but with 14 standards...
I just found and set up Gameyfin (a play on Jellyfin). Still in the testing it out phase, but I love the idea of a collection of my friends and my DRM free games that we can all share with less reliance on big companies.
I'll pop in and say the mechanics of pointing the wiimote at the screen from using it as a horizontal controller in order to go into a first person mode was kina fun. It was also the (first?) Metroid game to use the parrying system that was also used in Dread, which is super satisfying. It also had a boss fight that was a near direct reference to one of the Alien movies, which was original inspiration for Metroid.
But the story sucked, and I think we have all rightfully retconned it, as Samus is an awesome bounty hunter, not a lame little baby.
Wow, what an unfortunately delightful article.
