I aim to be more human. I aim to be less apathetic as a human. Apathy grows, like a tree, and I aim to prune my own.

  • “Why do you want this job/to work here?” “I’m just looking for something interesting to do for a while, get out of the house a bit. This sounds interesting enough.”

They hear: I don’t need a job, I may not need money, I may already have a job, I’m not picky about where I work so I’m probably not planning to stay, I’m likely to be weird or high maintenance, I’m very likely to move on quickly if I’m no longer entertained, and most importantly, I don’t need this specific job so I won’t take abuse of any sort.

This does work to land food service jobs, though, because they don’t really care. They gain and lose staff so frequently that if you just aren’t a complete shitshow you’ll get the job.

  • They don’t poop from what I recall.

But they don’t go anywhere when they die so you are covered with poop balloon corpses.

  • Oh, interesting. It’s applied externally.

I have shade tint on my big southeast picture windows that has a slightly mirror effect (I didn’t put it there, but oh man I’m glad it’s there), and birds slam into them all the time (there are lilacs in front and I assume the foliage looks deeper than it is). Fortunately they are slowing for landing when they do it so none have been seriously injured, but I’ve wanted a solution to the problem for a while without it looking like crap or removing the interior tint.

  • That’s a great idea! There’s actually a couple places I can think of that might be interested.

  • I genuinely regret all my cacti. I have like 8 Peruvian torches about a decade old from seed, and I like to put them outside in spring, so they don’t get all spindly and pathetic, and dear god are they heavy and dangerous to move now. They are like 4 foot (1.2m) tall or so, but can get up to 16 foot (5m).. whoops.

But I don’t want to kill them because, like.. I’m proud of them for thriving with me.

  • Russian station NTV's satirical puppet show "Kukly" from around 2000. Putin was said to go into a rage about how he was portrayed.

(I assume you were asking if that was the source, if not I don’t understand your question)

  • This makes me really curious in a way I’m not really sure how to search for (and I certainly don’t expect you to have an answer, but maybe someone does)..

How does one actually go about developing a new coding language? I assume it’s something that you need to….. translate to assembly in some way (I’m not advanced techie, but my understanding is that at core everything is assembly, and code languages are on top of that)? And what’s the purpose of developing more languages anyway?

  • Also know that, as I live there :)

I think this wordplay just doesn’t hit for me. That’s fine.

  • If that’s it then I did get it, but it still feels like I’m missing something.

Maybe this one just doesn’t hit for me :)

  • I feel like I’m missing something. I get the wordplay, but I’m confused about the damage roll aspect.

  • Oof yeah I saw those comments in the wild..

I don’t blame them for dropping the banhammer considering their instance rules and how strictly they enforce them (even if I don’t necessarily agree with some of the enforcement).

  • Just put a wick in the jar you pour strained bacon grease into. I’m sure that would work.

    Probably.

Hmm.. now I’m wondering if it would..

Edit: internet says yes this does work.

  • Cool, the Russian version of Spirit Halloween!

  • When they all get out to swarm one person but leave the vehicle running, just get in, drive it several blocks away, and leave it there. :p

  • Their animated stuff is some of the best coming out as well.

  • Call me crazy, but I say we try to get rid of political dynasty bullshit. Fuck the daughter who’s trying to protect her own election chances. Purge them all. Start fresh with better options. Whole party, with only a few notable exceptions which really prove the rule, is worthless.

  • Modern movies need more random tap dance breaks.

  • I turn on a bubble pop playlists and move wildly (sort of 80s aerobics videos style mixed with dance) until I have tired muscles all over. It’s mostly to ensure that weird muscles get worked that don’t with standard exercises, which tends to help with stability and overall strength. It’s also good for my mood. Bubble pop is happy dancy music, and free-form semi-dance movement feels good.

I also practice balance -a lot- such as standing on one foot while I cook or wash dishes. Helps prevent tripping and falling and hurting myself, and helps when I have to juggle stuff because I refuse to set it down. Also impresses the hell out of people when I use my thigh as a table while standing on one foot.

  • Now I’m curious how many rich people we would need to blend up to give everyone else on earth a sip of bougiejuice..
