  • Thanks for the recommendation, unfortunately not what I'm looking for, I prefer a high-top sneaker rather than a running/walking shoe. But I appreciate you taking the time to respond

  • What was the migration like? I've been looking to get off Plex for a while now but like you say, haven't had the time nor the energy.

Is it as simple as just installing it and pointing it at my NAS?

  • Locked

    I dunno

    Jump
  • I was taught BODMAS in Australia

  • Anyone know of comfortable sneaker alternatives that are reasonably priced, available globally, and aren't hideously ugly?

I've been wearing Jordans for most of my life. They're cheap, they look good (I like them) and they're comfy. But the quality has been going down the last 5 years or so and the writing had been on the wall.

I guess now is as good a time as any to make a change but every time I've looked for alternatives I've been frustrated that nobody makes shoes I actually like.

  • So you could charge your vape?

  • A&W is my personal favourite of hers, the production on that track is phenomenal.

  • Your criteria is a little confusing as another poster had said, but when I think romantic music, I think Portishead.

If you like Amy Winehouse as per your other comment, you might like Lana Del Rey?

  • Hey, we play that in Australia too!

  • Australian here. Christmas decorations will go up shortly for a lot of people. They come down a day or two after Christmas.

Obviously the main difference is that it'll be the middle of summer so it'll be unpleasantly hot. A lot of people do BBQs for a shared meal, seafood is a very common thing here for Christmas, especially prawns. Oh and Cherries. Everyone loves cherries for Christmas for some reason. And Pavlova

Other than that, it's probably pretty similar to Christmas in the U.S.

  • Not sure I follow... A steam frame isn't a phone. It can't make or receive phone calls

  • Weird people are the best

  • A shortlist of some of my favourite Australian music

    • Flume - never be like you
    • Rufus Du Sol - Innerbloom
    • The Presets - My People
    • The Names and Famous - The Sun (not * Australian, but still Oceania)
    • Tame impala - Let it Happen
    • King gizzard and the lizard wizard - Robot Stop
    • Nick Cave and the bad seeds - red right hand
    • Wolfmother - Woman
    • Violent Soho - covered in chrome

Too much good music to name, but this is a solid start

  • Here in Australia, the fact that basically everyone has solar panels, combined with our aging infrastructure that can't handle the exports, means feed-in-tariffs have dropped to basically nothing.

So it really is a use it during the day kind of mentality here.

Outside of daylight hours, we have the most expensive power in the world

  • Not sure I really have a favourite band. But first thing that came to mind was the salmon dance by the chemical brothers

  • Ouch, I do applaud you for not getting a giant yank tank though

  • Maybe (hopefully) I'm interpreting this incorrectly. But you pay $500 a month for a car?!?

  • I'm learning to manually change gears for my first time in my 30s, but on a bike.

Agreed, it is incredibly humbling. I've been driving for over half my life, and now I'm struggling to operate a vehicle all over again.

  • One of the most frequently suggested beginner distros is Linux mint. It's great, it's stable, it's what I use and while it's not exactly cutting edge, or necessary the prettiest distro, it's great for beginners and will feel pretty familiar coming from windows.

Pop_os! And bazzite are more "gaming focused" if that's more your style, but I've never had an issue gaming with Linux mint.

Ultimately, it doesn't really matter terribly much. Pick one, install it to a new drive and try it out. If you don't like it, pick another one.

  • I like maths. What game are you talking about?
