  • BSD has a very narrow set of benefits over Linux based systems I could say the same for BSD which mostly amounts to network appliances / firewalls these days. I would say NAS but Even trueNAS is moving toward linux.

  • I have been happily cordless for years but preferred the bottom as putting the phone top down in my pocket makes for one quick motion to view the phone and put it back without rotating it.

  • Some people purchase a phone based on looks, some for customization, others for specific apps, some it comes just down to what they can afford

I can come up with strong reasons to use Window or MacOS as your primary desktop os. IOS or Android as your phone OS. Windows / Linux / BSD for a server or appliance OS.

If someone thinks one size fits all THEY are the ones that should not be trusted in terms of tech insights.

  • Suddenly thinking of someone using moon photos from their phone as evidence.

  • 128 GB has been more than enough for me for over 8years ? I haven't gotten a phone with more than that.. I am currently at 72GB/128GB storage and most of that is Apps. I do go and archive photos and videos off my phone from time to time however.

If you NEVER delete anything, sure, you will run out. Or if you are super heavy into photos and video maybe but it is still A LOT of storage on a phone.

  • This, the all feed is a stream of garbage, porn and spam at times.

  • Create a helper group that has all the lights.

    Trigger:

Helper group turns on for 30 min

    Condition:

I used time after and before as a fixed time.

    Action:

service turn off with a target of the helper group

Should result in the trigger firing 30min after ANY light turns on and only turning them off at the set time.

  • The point of the ports is so you don’t need to have an external dongle. They arnt really there to hot swap but provide the right port always there so they shrewdly shouldn’t wear out and usb is more than fast enough for almost any port type now. I would much rather have a laptop with an Ethernet port and a full size HDMI than one with a single USB c that forces me to also pack a chonky dongle. Would rather just pack the cables .

  • It is GREAT as an option but not as the primary. I love it for small trips for a small number of things .

However for any medium to large shopping trip I would prefer to have someone there scanning while I unload and load.

  • Not sure what you are even saying?

  • Making an improvement for something that can be recycled and thus should REDUCE over time is a a MASSIVE improvement over doing nothing and bitching about it.

  • It can be recycled.. Unlike the oil and gas used up in ICE cars.

  • which are arguably worse than literally anything else.

Going to argue it isn't as bad as shale / oil sands projects. Also the battery is mostly aluminum, copper and nickel in the anode and cathode, all that has to be mined as well.

The products of the Oil industry are also consumed and can't be recycled, something like 90% of a battery can be recycled and reused.

  • Yes do look into it. There are MANY ways to harvest lithium and most are better than what the oil and gas companies does when fracking or drilling on land.

  • There were so few 6E devices released, particularly consumer level ones that we can sort of just “skip” it when talking about home user Wifi issues.

  • Single channel WiFi probably is unlikely to get to sub millisecond response timesas it is shared air time for both send and receive of all devices, wifi 7 multi link might help if it can route some traffic on different channels but over all I never expect it to get close to what wired Ethernet can do.

  • Was making HTML pages long before Notpad++ was a thing young one.

Not saying I would do it that way now.

  • Exactly, wifi 7 will probably get us to or close to practical 1Gbit wireless speed vs theoretical 1Gbit speeds.
