  • Before Amazon was as big as it is today, they approached me for a position. I had three different 1 hour interviews, then I found out they still expected me to fly to Seattle for 3 full days of interviews. I told them I was not interested. Before I knew much about corporate America, my gut told me that was a bad sign. Glad I listened.

    During the pandemic, interviews seemed to have endless rounds of ridiculous questions. There needs to be a law that interviewers need to pay you at the position's rate for anything beyond 2 hours. It would eliminate so much bullshit.

  • You would think. Our stupid country has senators based on statehood rather than representation of population. The pocket of Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Montana has ~3.5 million people combined, yet has 4x the voting power of California which has 10x the population. It's a garbage system.

    Also if you look at virtually any statistic by state. Red states are a dumpster fire. Literacy, STDs, teen pregnancy, income, obesity, etc.

    Only a complete fucking moron could be a republican. The evidence of their failure and unnecessary cruelty is overwhelming.

    My take:

    • Run water until it's hot prior to starting dishwasher
    • Powder is probably intentionally 'nerfed' at the store to sell pods
    • Pods didn't necessarily outperform powder

    Unfortunately, the product that they came up with is probably more expensive than my Costco pods. But at least I learned stuff.

  • Meh. Reddit had a very strong political bias.

    Lemmy doesn't have the same polish, it's a little more difficult to create an account, and doesn't have any marketing. Also success snowballs.

    I respect the crap out of everyone that pitches in to make Lemmy as good as it is. But if I'm being real, I'm here to spite Reddit. Few people have that moral give-a-fuck. Spite is easy, following through to do something that is more challenging and pays nothing is not.

  • Yeah, I've started getting (more) annoyed at the people that say "you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

    Mostly because fuck anyone who is MAGA. But I've also always found it to be a stupid quote. Gretzky was more of a set up player than a goal scorer. In the hockey world, idiots quote him as an excuse for making a pass.
