  • I feel like some of these get very skewed depending on the person's upbringing and personal traumas. I know an autistic person who is deeply dedicated/committed to their partner(who has a severe mental illness), at the expense of the wellbeing of their children. That's not ethical or moral, but this person made vows to God and their partner, not to their children

Also "honest" is mentioned twice, and that's definitely one of those things that gets skewed too lol

  • Honestly, good point. I'mma have to buy the vinyl, too

  • Ori and the Blind Forest/ Will of the Wisps Still the only two games that I've sought out and added the music to my playlists, although Skyrim and LoZ songs tend to be covered by artists in my daily rotations

  • A lawn is generally easier to take care of than a collection of various plants and trees. First thing I do at any new home is plant a fuck ton of edible plants, and my neighbors always talk about not having the time or energy to do the same

  • I have no opinions about nitro-infused steel, but: Those are just sources of nitrogen for whatever process is used. In other words: there should be no remaining CN- (cyanide) or NH3 (ammonia) on the pan after manufacture because the N(itrogen) has gone into the alloy. Always a good idea to give your pans a wash before use anyway, of course

  • I knew a guy who built little one person helicopters as a hobby. He bought kits for that, though

Fun fact: sometimes he would take his pet skunk up into the sky with him

  • Medication is a privilege that many with ADHD can't access. It also doesn't work for everyone. Are those people not disabled?

Also, ADHD is more than struggling to focus, or to sit still. Many of us struggle to start tasks, manage money, keep things tidy, or manage time. These issues can cause so many problems in life, ranging from inability to hold a job to relationship issues. Once the medication wears off, these symptoms rise back to the surface; because ADHD medication isn't a cure, it's symptom management.

  • Wow. I've been vegan or vegetarian for decades and I've never heard of blanching tofu. Gonna have to try that tonight!

  • My organic chemistry prof was equally weird about synthesis. But his ego rested on everyone passing, in contrast to the biology prof who failed half the students in her classes. She was the better teacher. I don't remember much from my second semester of o chem because I didn't really need to learn anything to get an A, but I have retained quite a lot from her classes

  • Is it pronounced tomato or tomato in Nahuatl?

  • I don't understand what confiscating the weapon (and doing nothing else) even really achieves when the murderer owns a company with the word "militia" in the name.

  • My boy cat has always given me very affectionate, but forceful, cuddles under my chin, especially when scared. Which reminds me that my old lady cat always buries her face in my elbow when she's scared.

So, I'll just have to pick up every cat and see who trusts me enough to use me as a blindfold lol

  • This may not be accurate anymore, but ~15 years ago I got my foot in the door as a game tester by showing a history of alpha and beta testing. I can go into more detail about my interview process if you want, but the point I wanted to make is that you don't need to be a programmer or artist to work in the game industry.

Broader advice is to take what you love and instead of doing exactly that - make a lateral transfer to a different industry. Making good beer and making good pizza dough take the same skills, their end products are what differs

  • He can't remember her name unless someone else says it first

  • Where did you get twenty-something from? No, I consider people in their twenties to be young people.
