  • I didn't think I had to be that explicit with the details. No. I was not intending to imply that. Honestly the topic of the comic is gross and I was trying not to acknowledge it too much. I was mostly just talking about the past/future bodily consent issue in general. Sorry I wasn't more clear.

Edit: I had a different reply earlier where I was jerkish. Sorry. I shouldn't comment whilst grouchy and sleepy. I re-read my earlier comment and, yeah, I can see how that came off that way.

  • I'm not talking about just sex here. There's plenty of legally binding stuff you can't withdraw from one you've agreed to them.

Well you should have been more clear on that. I also could have been more clear that I was talking about body autonomy (like the situation in the comic) and not legally binding contracts.

  • Past me can give consent for themselves, yeah. If I ever change my mind then so too does the status of the consent.

So, if the present version of the person in the comic gave consent, but the past version did not, then consent would not be given. Time travel or no, it is up to the individual.

(Edit: I was talking about broad consent here without taking into context the subject matter of the comic. I was trying to avoid that subject matter because it is gross, and hoisted myself by my own petard in the process. To be clear - The past version is under age and therefore cannot give consent in the depicted scenario.)

I don't agree that they are the same person. Even though they're two instances of one being. They're two physically separate bits of mass with different opinions on the situation.

  • Pretty simple answer here: No.

Consent is based on the individual. Identical twins can't give consent for each other, despite being genetically identical.

  • I'm an electronics guy. You wouldn't believe how many fun little circuits never make it past a simulator 😞.

  • Don't worry! If your ADHD mind is anything like mine you wouldn't have finished the game anyway. Just 120 hours of non stop labour until you burn out and never touch the project again!

P.S. I am kidding. Issues like hyper focus with burnout are surmountable. Don't be afraid to start stuff. ADHD creators unite!

  • There's a Ray Bradbury story like this about the last human on Mars. He's like 80 and gets into a fight with pre-recorded versions of his past self that he made to not be lonely. Hang on, I'll get the name.

Edit: It was I, Mars (also called Night Call, Collect). I highly recommend the radio play/audio drama version.

A few years ago I found all the Ray Bradbury audio dramas I listened to on cassette available online, but I couldn't find the exact site just now. Try this in the meantime (I am about to enter a movie theater so I didn't look too hard).

  • I love when scumbags freely out themselves.

Women being beautiful is just one of those free goods that we get in our reality.

Like, that is messed up. Are you saying that women are just things to look at? Because that's what it sounds like, yo.

For one thing there is an issue of agency, or control over their own appearance. Dressing up to look and feel pretty FOR THEMSELVES is a completely different thing from having an external force dictate their apparel. Let's be real, that "external force" is probably mostly a bunch of old dudes.

Another issue, and this is a big one, sports isn't about ogling hot bods! They are there to play sports. Athletes, especially Olympic ones, put immense work into training so they can excel at their sport of choice. They do not put all that work in just to become "eye candy" or anything of the sort.

They don't do this to dudes anywhere near as bad. Imagine if the NBA uniform was crop tops and skin tight briefs or something. That can be comfortable, but in front of an arena and the whole world? Different story.

  • What about the eggs? I doubt those were willingly gathered.

  • It's from IT part 2. Bill Hader's character is going to throw a rock at IT, but gets mesmerized by the Deadlights.

  • Rare Microsoft W here. Is there AI included with Zork?

  • Mostly flesh and steel! I loved the added challenge of that and how it made me rethink my comfortable routes.

In Dishonored 2 you can reject the Outsider entirely and do a zero powers run. That one is fittingly called "Only flesh and steel".

  • Whenever I do that around non-motorola people they get sooooo envious, lol. It is a great feature, and I agree it should be universal.

  • Motorola phones also have great gesture controls! Karate chop to turn on the flashlight, and do a Snowpiercer style twist to open the camera. Twist it a second time to open the selfie camera. I think they patented these features though, which is pretty yuck.

  • I mean, it really isn't though. You can totally play it that way, yeah, but that's only one option. The story reacts to how you play and the decisions you make. I find the low chaos (less or non-lethal) ending to be my favorite. Also canonically Corvo isn't a raving lunatic murderer, so if you're looking for the "True" story experience that's the way to go. He still kills some people, notably the Lord Regent, but spares others.

  • And a few comics!

    Novels

Dishonored: The Corroded ManThis takes place about a year before Dishonored 2, and POV characters include Emily and Corvo. I really liked this one. Especially how it expanded on the relationship between Corvo and Emily. Some neat character insights too. Emily is canonically a beefcake.

Dishonored: The Return of DaudThis one follows Daud during the events of Dishonored 2 as he looks for the Twin-bladed Knife. Really cool concept that is once again brought down by Daud and his Daud-ness. "Woe is me, I killed the empress! Who can I push this blame upon to heal the hole in my black heart?!". I'm making my way through though. It does show a bit more of Gristol that is outside of Dunwall.

Dishonored: The Veiled TerrorI haven't gotten here yet. It follows Billy Lurk after Death of the Outsider, and how she deals with the consequences of the ending of that game.

    Comics

I have not read these at all yet, and they may be hard to find.

    Dishonored: The Wyrmwood Deciet

Dishonored: The Peeress and the Price

There may be more, but those are the only ones I've heard of.

  • Dishonored is my favorite video game series of all time! I play that thing every year, lol. Love the stealth challenges and all the ways you can approach things. I really enjoy the sequels too, and this year I've finally gotten into the books. Fantastic game. Also they leaned heavy into the style, so 13 years later it still looks decent. Not nearly as aged-looking as "realistic" graphics from that time. Those still look decent too, all things considered. But stylized graphics tend to fit their current limitations better than pushing for realism.
