  • Because its not all eggs. As you can see, they used a ton of google services, but only substituted a few with Proton. Ex. Google keep -> Joplin, Google Maps -> Magic maps. So saying that they put everything into proton is not true. It takes time to be fully independent.

    I am very similar to OP. Proton right now gives good services, and is a good safety net right now for me.

    If you mean how often, well that depends. Weekly / bi-weekly / monthly it really just how it goes.

  • Have you heard about Ventoy? You can have 1 pendrive with all the ISO-s you would want. Currently i have like 10 distros on my thumbdrive.

    Plus you could use the pendrive as a regular storage as well besides the ISOs.

  • The easiest way is to buy a used ssd, and dual-boot. Ive heard, always install windows first and then linux.

    Done this way, there shouldnt be any problems. If you realize you dont need one of the operating systems, you could just wipe the disk and mount it again.

    Although Ive been using linux for 2 years now, and i still want an installation manager with sane defaults.

  • EndeavourOS has such great Arch defaults! Ive been daily driving it for 2 years now, and it still just works. (There were small regressions in plasma maybe like twice, both of which fixed itself upon next update)
