  • It’s genuinely embarrassing that we keep bringing up Millennium challenge as some kind of grand humiliation of the US military, like a cursory glance of the 2002 Millennium challenge explains exactly what happened and it is just one loser General who wanted to ruin everyone’s field trip and made up impossible things to stack his odds and win. And the more you look into it, the worse the optics get. This is the opposite of how leftist dialogue should behave under scrutiny.

    Like, there are enough opportunities to criticize the US military’s incompetence already. Let’s not pretend their goal was to annex Afghanistan, it was not some humiliating defeat by farmers. The US got everything they wanted out of it. This is the new kind of war, purely designed to kill civilians, extract resources, and keep the MIC running.

    AI even in its current state is fundamentally necessary to a huge amount of people today, and this figure is only growing. Most people, especially in the West, are profoundly unintelligent, uncurious, and incapable of critical thought. AI is genuinely revolutionary for them, and they would gladly pay a subscription baked into everything to have it (which would sustain the costs).

    Ask anyone under the age of 20 a question and their immediate response is “let me ask ChatGPT”

    The market is desperate for AI, and will almost certainly pay a premium for it once current free models become unsustainable.

    This is why I bet on China, instead of against AI. Figure out how to personally benefit from the rise of China and the fall of America, and let material analysis figure out the rest.

  • Some leftists have this weird imaginary understanding of economics where every minimum wage worker generates millions of dollars in profit and everyone with degrees is just a bullshit worker sucking away money.

    The skilled union laborers on my projects cost the company in excess of $200 per hour, and that is me hiding the real number which is much higher for opsec. Companies are, in fact, keenly interested in knowing exactly how much an employee costs them. For projects, net margin is added on top of the costs as a percentage.

    Every second those guys dick around instead of solving problems, money burns. Enough money burns, and union guys get laid off. Office people lose their jobs. The public and the disabled suffer from lack of services.

    Yes, that also means the fucks at the top get richer. But we have to play the game. Get and hold a job. Advance your skills, personal development, and career. Use that superior leftist state of being to get promotions to gather capital to be used to at least help other people, if not directly fund a revolution.

    This is not an insult to the OP at all, they asked a great question. But there is a prevailing attitude especially on the online left that needs some serious self crit if they are to be anything except “posting is praxis” performative leftists.

    I can’t say I understand where you’re coming from because I don’t have that shared cultural experience.

    What happens when you don’t like the music someone’s playing? Or you want to watch a video on your phone or enjoy a audiobook with earbuds? Do you just blast your own even louder? Do the people that don’t enjoy it really not exist or are they just threatened with violence until they start “enjoying” the culture?

    I mean I’ve seen it all around the world, I understand to that extent that some cultures normalize it. But I see it in the same way cultures normalize behaviors that are not good for subsets of the population. Americans culturally hate science, intelligence, and empathy. Japanese culturally hate not blending in and doing your duty. Etc etc. just because something is normal doesn’t change that it is harmful.
