Yet another refugee who washed up on the shore after the great Reddit disaster of 2023

  • I viscerally hate the guy, but:

    • Murder is just wrong, and political violence isn't better when liberals do it than conservatives
    • We don't need him to become a martyr
    • If he's dead, we'll never get a court ruling on his crimes

  • What they knew then, that people can't seem to grasp now, is that kids just don't care about the adult stuff - it either goes over their heads or they think it's funny. Now people lose their minds if an adult joke is made in front of kids, or people of the same sex kiss, or whatever.

  • Agreed. She was also frank, and not very judgemental about things that don't affect other people.

  • When I was young, my mind was super visual. People would talk, and there would be a stream of pictures and videos in my mind. Then I got really into reading and writing and, over the years, my mine got much less visual. I still can visualize things, but it's not the way my mind really works. It's closer to an audio book, but isn't really sound, either.

  • She was only a radio personality at the time, and she sounded very old. She was on the KROQ morning show a lot.

  • Wow, she was still alive? She seemed ancient in the 80s.

  • Thanks, I posted there, too

  • Thanks!

  • It's not even true for boomers. I'm (barely) a boomer and I'm much more liberal than when I was young, even though I have more money.

  • I took a similar pic years ago that's still one of my favorite that I took myself

  • Well, now you know me so you can add another.

  • The margin of older voters who voted for Trump in the last election wasn't that big. People think the vast majority of boomers are conservatives, but it's just a slight majority. Similarly, only a slight majority of younger voters voted for Biden.

  • I've never had a migraine headache, but my wife gets them like three or four times a year, usually pieces by a visual aura (and sometimes if she just goes into a dark, quiet room, she only gets the aura). She always described it as an "electric caterpillar" crawling from the side. I was glad she had told me about it in detail because several years ago I got one, and that's the only reason I knew what was happening. Mine wasn't as colorful as what she described, but otherwise the same.

Here's a short video simulating one, and it's very similar to my experience (and, apparently, hers).

  • For sure freezer, and never fridge. Frozen bread, especially sliced bread, thaws really fast. If you leave it on the counter, it stays soft okay, but goes moldy quickly. In the fridge, it lasts okay but gets kind of hard quickly. In the freezer, when you thaw it, it will be soft until it's freezer burned, and lasts like months.

  • They did stuff like this - maybe not with AI - in the last two elections at least. The Mueller report made the Russian activity pretty clear. And 2016 was a really close election; they only have to shape the opinion of a small number of people.

It's also curious that Republican lawmakers, who historically have been overtly anti-Russian and anti-Putin, have become pro Russian in recent years. What changed?

  • Yeah, of you can back it away from the garlic enough. Otherwise it's too hot.

  • I'm leaving it

  • That is so completely insane. Do you know how many workplace injuries and deaths were eliminated because of things OSHA put in place?

  • I did roast them with a butane torch and thought that would make the flavor a little milder

That's your problem. Rotating garlic needs a lower heat than a torch for a longer time.
