  • What about Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, even 4chan?

You know why. Because the CEOs of the first three bent the knee to the facists already, and the last one is a breeding ground for MAGA.

This is just the next round of CEOs to be intimidated into submission. Some of them won't need intimidation of course, spez will be happy.

  • No. Because none of us is the main character. For the average people cyberpunk sucks.

  • There's a lot of movies I really like. But I believe these to be my all time favorites:

    Master and Commander

    Rogue One

    Tron: Legacy

    Arrival

  • Do we work for the same company? Exactly same story here. Also just botched the Oracle to Aurora migration.

  • Open two Chrome tabs at the same time.

  • Alien, zombie, monster, catastrophe, etc movies and shows. Obviously not all of them, but the genre in general.

Many people complain these shows only work because the characters act stupid, and it's true.

BUT: a) what's the alternative? Not having these shows at all? b) People are stupid even without a catastrophe. What makes you think we suddenly all develop a brain when there's an alien invasion, or zombie outbreak? If Covid showed us anything, than that there's a very large part of the population who'd go out of their way to act against everyone's best interest.

  • At first I thought you would talk about Magic the Gathering. My confusion increased with every sentence.

  • Conservative lawmakers are furious about everything. All the time. It's their trademark. If they weren't furious, they would be furious over not being furious.

  • Just curious, why do you think a ring would predate the elevator?

(Not OP) Because simply from a construction-point-of-view it's achievable now. Unlike a space elevator, a ring could actually be built and used with today's materials.

  • Die größte Gefahr vom Handy auf der Toilette geht davon aus, dass ich dort sitzen bleibe.

  • I don't know, so I can only guess.

The desalination plant could have been there already, because for whatever reason it was more practical (or even required) than taking the water from the river.

Or maybe the desalination plant requires very little power, maybe less than what the osmotic plant produces.

Or the whole thing is indeed energy negative, but not as energy negative as having just the desalination plant. So at least they get to use the brine from the desalination to recoup some of the energy. Because the osmotic plant is power positive.

  • It's easier to understand with a picture of the process:

It's not energy negative. Osmosis doesn't require any energy input. You only need to pump water to the plant, but the harvested power from the pressurized water exceeds the required pumping power. Freshwater and saltwater are freely available. Using the concentrated brine from a desalination plant only increases the efficiency.

  • Haha, gerade dran erinnert:

  • Our conservatives, with the help of our so called social democrats, stopped almost all investments into infrastructure, housing, education, defense... basically everything, over the last 20 years. So now we have unaffordable housing, crumbling infrastructure, bad and expensive public transport and telecommunication, paired with sky high taxes and an overburdened and under-financed healthcare and retirement system. Income is taxed, wealth isn't. And because of demographics the only thing parties care about is raising retirement payments - adding fuel to the doomed system. The economy is slowing down, and nothing is done against it (tax cuts of course, and watering down the laws against tax evasion). The working class is disappearing because the only thing they ever can imagine is to raise taxes to finance these increasingly inefficient and unfair systems.

While some of their party members wasted literally billions of taxpayer money, they are now blaming some absolute minorities (unwilling unemployed, and foreigners of course), and try to squeeze money out of them.

They (Merz especially) have no plan for the country. . Like, at all. The only plan was to get into power.

Oh, and the Nazis are back, and our conservatives play "wait and see". Fucking happy times, everyone.

  • but you get deep enough and it would become an issue

Really? Since your whole body is submerged there's little to no difference in pressure. Our body is not a hardshell.

  • Tenet

I'm as much intrigued by the concept as I am confused. It's hard to put into words, really. At the very beginning they say something along the lines that he needs to "feel" it, pure intuition, because because he needs to have done it already. Chills me every time because it's such a fantastic idea. Like is he writing it into existence the moment he/someone travels back (doing things they "did" already). Or was it actually in the timeline already, and he did do those things which he is about to do now. According to the "window in the time switching room" explanation it should be the second option, but the first one would still work imo. I'm absolutely positively confused, and I love it.

Btw the movie lacks a scene, where he absolutely fumbles it, because he's thinking what to do, instead of using his instincts to reverse-do what he has done already. But then: Could he fumble it, considering he did it already?

Last thought: while traveling back do they get younger, or older? Even the oxigen cycle reverses (hence the masks)...

  • Absolute Überraschung.

Nur Politiker und Rentner reden davon mehr zu arbeiten. Wenn es sich lohnen würde, würden die Menschen ganz von allein danach fragen.
