Dragon Ball Z Optimal Viewing Guide
Dragon Ball Z Optimal Viewing Guide
After 5 years of dedicated yet fulfilling work I am pleased to announce that the Viewing Guide Task Group formed at the 2021 Conference for Dragon Ball Research is now ready to publish it's findings.
The Viewing Guide below was developed in close collaboration with experts from a range of fields including Akira Toriyama (Author, Dragon Ball), Dolf Zillmann (Media Psychology), Takeshi Kitano (Filmmaker, Japanese TV icon), Sensible Saiyan (Martial Arts Analyst), Werner Herzog (not really sure who, if anyone invited him but his contributions were invaluable), Dr Beth Johnson (Professor, TV Studies), Hayao Miyazaki (Master Animator, Studio Ghibli - meeting him was a dream come true although tbh all I remember is him loudly eating chips and asking "so y'all are really into this show huh?") along with countless participants in focus groups of fans new and old.
Some may find this guide convoluted or unnecessary.. and that's fine; we are not handing this down as a decree.
However; following this guide will ensure conditions providing optimal narrative tension and revelation for the best possible viewing experience. This is backed up by years of rigorous research and testing... this is Dragon Ball Z as it was meant to be seen.

Make an optimistic estimate of your commute time to work in minutes.
Let x be commute time + 20
Start each episode x minutes before your clock in time at work and only on work days.
When you get up to leave after having sat down to watch an episode you must permanently delete that episode regardless of progress.
After season 3 continue to watch sporadic and random fragments of episodes on wall mounted CRTs with barely audible volume inside worker cafeterias or greasy spoons.
