Vie chère au Sahel : L’opération Faso Yaar fait carton plein à Dori

Officially launched on Friday, February 20, 2026, in Dori, the Faso Yaar operation marks a new stage in the fight against the high cost of living in the Sahel region. By regulating prices and ensuring access to basic necessities, the initiative is already proving popular with many households.
If there isn't a rush at the gates, it's primarily thanks to an organization that prioritizes smooth traffic flow for the residents of Dori. According to Kalfassoro Konaté, regional director in charge of trade for the Sahel, "the results of the first four days are extremely positive ."
“ The enthusiasm is palpable, and revenues are continually increasing, proving that the products offered meet a genuine need among citizens, ” he emphasized. Given this success, the authorities are encouraging the entire population to adopt these products made available to them to simplify their daily lives.
For Fernand Belemkoabga, who came to buy sugar, the difference compared to the regular market is significant. He makes no secret of his satisfaction because " the prices charged by FASO YAAR are much more affordable than those in the private sector, where prices are sometimes prohibitive and even impossible to find ."
This consumer points out that " this initiative reminds older generations of the FASO YAAR programs of the past " and now allows the most modest families to breathe a little easier financially. Looking ahead, he calls on those in charge to " restock the store with more food items " in order to improve access to basic necessities.
The Secretary General of the Sahel region, Auguste Kinda, presided over the launch ceremony. He indicated that the objective is to enable consumers to benefit from quality consumer goods at affordable prices.
In Dori, the Faso Yaar store offers sugar, oil, and juices. For consumers, the financial benefit is immediate, as the store allows for both wholesale and retail purchases at clearly defined prices. For example, a carton of SN SOCUCO sugar costs 21,000 CFA francs compared to 850 CFA francs per packet, and a can of oil costs 6,750 CFA francs compared to 26,000 CFA francs for a four-pack.
To comply with national guidelines and prevent abuse, the purchasing process is strictly regulated. “ An application allows registration and then purchase upon presentation of identification ,” explained Auguste Kinda. Alizéta Traoré, a customer who was able to purchase sugar and oil, attested to the users' satisfaction despite the strict procedures.
To ensure fair distribution, the President of the Special Delegation of Dori issued a statement outlining certain conditions. He specifically mentioned " the possibility of purchasing for multiple people, limited to five," and reiterated that "resale is prohibited ."
While traditional traders like Richard Minoungou note a decline in their clientele, many recognize that the initiative is a necessary benefit to alleviate the suffering of the population.
The Secretary General of the region, Auguste Kinda, has also launched an appeal for every citizen to benefit from this operation in discipline and respect for the established rules.
