Social Media Bans Are Coming For The United States In 2026

The United States Senate is about to change the internet forever. As of February 4, 2026, the Kids Off Social Media Act (S. 278/ KOSMA) has officially advanced from the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and is headed to the Senate floor for a final vote. If passed, this legislation will effectively ban social media for children under the age of 13 and trigger a massive overhaul of how we verify our identities online.
