China – Burkina Faso: The CJPC-BF launches its 2026 activities under the banner of strategic cooperation

The Youth Club for the Promotion of Sino-Burkinabe Cooperation (CJPC-BF) officially launched its 2026 activity program on Thursday, February 12, in Ouagadougou. Focused on security and diplomacy, this new roadmap aims to strengthen ties between Burkina Faso and China within a rapidly evolving geopolitical context.

This year's theme, " Between Security and Diplomacy: Burkina Faso's Place in the Face of Chinese Unification and the Terrorist Threat in the Sahel, " reflects a desire for clear-sightedness. For the organizers, the aim is to position Burkina Faso not as a mere observer, but as a pivotal player capable of reconciling its internal security challenges with strategic international alliances, particularly with China.

According to Idrissa Ramdé, president of the organizing committee, this meeting is a necessary space for reflection. " Burkina Faso, like several Sahel countries, faces major security challenges that call for comprehensive responses, integrating governance, diplomacy and international cooperation ," he stated from the outset.

He stated that this partnership with China, based on mutual respect and pragmatism, is an essential lever for human development and the strengthening of local capacities.

Present at the ceremony, the Chinese ambassador to Burkina Faso, Zaho Deyong, noted that 2026 has a historic dimension. It marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the African continent.

The ambassador reaffirmed his country's commitment to Africa. " For 70 years, the Chinese people have always been a reliable ally for Africa, from the struggle for independence to the current challenges of sovereignty and development ."

Abdoul Razahagou Dene, General Coordinator of the CJPC-BF, unveiled a particularly busy 2026 agenda, focused on diversity. " The intellectual component will begin with the organization of a high-level seminar, under the auspices of the Embassy, ​​to deepen strategic thinking between the two nations ," he explained.

According to him, the year will also be marked by the strengthening of bilateral cooperation through the celebration of the 6th edition of the Sino-Burkinabe Cooperation Week, "an event that has now become essential," he stated. Finally, he concluded that social cohesion and community spirit will be highlighted with the holding of the Embassy's Grand National Cup, as well as a day dedicated to intercultural exchange to celebrate the fraternity between the two peoples.
