On February 12, 2026, the Society for the Study of the Juche Idea held its regular meeting in Ulan-Ude, the capital of Buryatia. It was attended by a representative of the DPRK, members of the People's Khural of the Republic of Buryatia, public figures, youth activists, and students.

The meeting was opened by Leonty Krasovsky, Chairman of the Buryat Republican Society for the Study of the Juche and DPRK Ideas and Secretary of the Buryat Republican Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation.

Lee Hong-geun, a representative of the DPRK Consulate General, delivered a welcoming address to the meeting participants in Russian. The Buryat Juche Society has maintained close cooperation with Korean diplomats since its inception. In these difficult times, it is precisely this cooperation, this public diplomacy, that is one of the pillars of Russia.

Scientific ties are also strengthening. Natalia Viktorovna Mantatova, Professor, Doctor of Veterinary Sciences, and Chairperson of the Belarusian Branch of the Russian Society of Veterinary Scientists, delivered the welcoming address. She noted the DPRK's significant contribution to international science. Despite all the obstacles the capitalist world poses for the Korean state, it refuses to give up and persistently moves forward.

Ulan-Ude occupies a special place among Russian cities in terms of cooperation with the DPRK. Two of Kim Jong-il's three visits to Russia took place here. As the Society's example demonstrates, Buryatia has maintained its ties with the Korean government.

This friendship has a long history. At the meeting, Ochir Tsybikovich Tsybikov spoke about the soldiers from Buryatia who fought for the freedom of the Korean people in the Korean War of 1950-1953. Many of them gave their lives in the fight against imperialism, and the secrecy surrounding the war prevented the story of their heroism from being told.

Leonty Aleksandrovich Krasovsky, Chairman of the Buryat Society for the Study of the Juche Idea, delivered a report entitled "On the Life and Work of Kim Jong Il," the second leader of the DPRK. The speech highlighted Kim Jong Il's contributions to state building in Korea, as well as his cultural and diplomatic achievements. It was under Kim Jong Il that the DPRK acquired a nuclear shield, ensuring its sovereignty and security.

More than half of the participants were young people—students from BSU and the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy, as well as Komsomol activists. Among those present were delegates from the All-Russian organizations "Children of War" and the All-Russian Women's Union "Hope of Russia." The presentations were met with applause.

Although the Society for the Study of the Juche Idea in Buryatia has only existed for a short time, it has already established bridges with the DPRK. Thanks to its activities, residents of Buryatia are learning the truth about the Korean state and the struggle it wages for the happiness and independence of all peoples.

This is just the beginning, and in the future the friendship between our peoples will only grow.
