Help me find a Japanese movie about an inn next to a moonlit cherry tree
Hello, I saw this movie in the (late?) 90s (might have been very early 2000s?) in a German movie theater (in Hamburg, I think).
I've been thinking about it and searching for it for a long time but unfortunately, I can remember almost nothing about it, except for very striking scenes featuring a full moon and a cherry tree at night. I think the cherry tree is next to the parking space / road of a family run hotel / inn / restaurant and some family members (father and daughter/son?) look at it and talk. These scenes had a dream like, magical quality to them. This was not a movie set in historical times and the setting was rather rural, I think.
Any ideas what that movie might be? Thanks a lot in advance!
EDIT: I think I found it! Not 100 % sure but I definitely remember watching that movie in cinema in the 90s and being blown away by it: Nemuru Otoko / Sleeping Man (1996) by Oguri Kôhei. I have the cherry blossom / full moon imagery different in my head but I might just be mixing that up with something different (I think here it is a scene with a cherry tree at night and a full moon scene). This is a super weird movie, even without having watched it for about 20 years, I'm pretty sure I can recommend!
