Fans built a modernized version of the Cave Story engine

I just replayed the game after like 15 years, it's still super good. Would recommend. The CSE2 engine was a really nice way to play the game, with widescreen and decent button remapping support.

Cave Story is a freeware indie classic, but the dev got screwed over super hard by the company that did the commercial "HD" port, which features slightly worse graphics (your tastes may vary) and wildly worse music (objectively). So play the original and, if you like it, buy Kero Blaster to support him.
