Thoughts on Fallout 2e1?
I enjoyed it overall. Never got into the games despite playing the very first one way back in the day. So I don't really have a horse in the "adaptation" race. Just taking it at face value for the most part.
I liked Norm and Chet in the first season, glad to see they're getting some screen time in the first ep too.
Chet growing a bit of a backbone was nice. (While it lasted lol.) I am quite curious to see where his character goes.
Son-of-Hank is interesting, not the choice I would've made. Me personally I'd flip the roomba-brain over and tell Bud I'm going to smash what's left of his existence if he doesn't do as I say. I'd also make a not too subtle threat (that I wouldn't actually follow up on) that there's plenty to eat in here, I just need to thaw it out. That said, Norm may not default to 'I'm going to threaten "bodily" harm' given his upbringing. Opening some chaos works too I guess. I'm curious to see where that goes. Lots of new people to meet next ep I guess. Wonder if Cooper's wife/daughter will be in there or not. I'm assuming not.
Lucy and the Ghoul, not much to say on this point really. They make a decent duo. The flea-soup got me. I did not expect her, uhm, choice of flea-farming acreage.
I like the Cooper flashbacks, seeing some background for Moldaver was good. Still wondering how she managed to cryo herself, and commensurately I am curious why she woke up when she did. Something more to do with Lucy's mother perhaps? I got the sense at the very end of S1 that they were involved romantically, when she took her hand as she was dying.
No Maximus this round, must have a lot to catch up on next ep then. I loved Michael Cristofer as the Elder Cleric last season, hope to see more of him next episode. Man can act.
I completely forgot about the water issue in 33, wonder if that will continue to be a problem and force the 33ers out. Could be some decent conflict if 33 becomes uninhabitable and they have to move to 32. Also throwing what Son-of-Hank did in 31 there could make for some fun viewing. All those managers are going to need food and water and facilities in short order.
I'm not sure about Hank and the whole brain chip plot. Reserving judgement. Could be good, but the concept feels a bit stale to my over-sci-fi fed brain. Wait and see though.
All 'round looking forward to more. Good first ep, decent set up.
