A proposed law enabling the government to permanently close foreign media outlets in Israel advanced on Sunday after being approved by the Knesset National Security Committee.
The bill is intended to replace the 'Al Jazeera Law,' which was primarily used to authorize the closure of the Qatar-based broadcaster in Israel.
Unlike the law it would replace, the proposed bill would allow the government to shut down a media outlet without requiring judicial oversight.
