People who can't find respect and fulfillment connecting with others seek respect and fulfillment in dominating others instead.

I think the power imbalances in society in some way stem from a desire to fill a void of self worth. Complete people connect: empty people consume and consolidate power. Billionaires and dictators can never have enough because they can never be enough.
