Senior Hamas official Bassem Naim told the Associated Press (AP) on 7 December that the movement is prepared to discuss “freezing or storing” its weapons only as part of a broader political process that leads to the establishment of a Palestinian state — a pathway Israel categorically rejects.
Naim said Hamas retains its right to resist but is open to long-term arrangements under a genuine political horizon, stressing that disarmament cannot be imposed by international forces or dictated by Israel, which continues to violate key ceasefire commitments.
